They tried a weekly dirt midget series about ten years ago and the fans did not support it. It was 16th Street Speedway and they ran every Saturday night. It was a given that I would drive from Cincinnati to the Speedway and back EVERY Saturday night. I loved going there. I saw D.O. get married there. I saw fantastic racing there. Saw some big stars cut their teeth there. But the fans did not come. What a shame.

I miss 16th Street, too, even though I moved out here right at the end. The fans didn't come because it wasn't promoted very well. If you're going to have a race track in a city like that, you have a bunch more entertainment options out there, and you need to compete with those. All I saw was your typical race promotion, and it needed to be different considering the location.

There was some complaint from the local neighborhoods about the noise. Seems that the race cars drowned out the sound of the gunfire in the area.:wink

Personally;I am glad to see some new blood. It takes much effort to run a series like the Koil series. You have to be very organized.
The question this begs is: What about the Kenyons and their series? Is this a work together deal or a replacement deal? Kenyons have done a great job and while the purses aren't what I would like to see, I'm sure that is all they can pay and it needs time to build. Good Luck to all. |

Other step in the changes at USAC and already tossed under the bus.
Sounds like his job is to run the series that the kids can run and set up a series that can race more often than we have now. He is new on the job this week, give him a chance. besides I heard he has a class a cdl LOL :dologob: |

Back on topic (and not related to the post quoted above), let's give the guy a chance...he's gotta start somewhere, and it sounds like he's done a good job with them. Don't judge someone by their age (or spelling ablity in my case)...that always irritated the crap out of me when I was younger when people did that to me....and heck, it still does. |

JJones: I'm so impressed with that 18 wheeler that I'm seriously thinking about buying one... not for my midget but for my copy machine.
