Saturday at Jacksonville; another entertaining evening. 31 sprints. First Heat - Two damaged too much to continue and one just damaged but continuing on the original start. Terry McCarl 1st from 1st and Joey Moughan 2nd from 2nd. Second Heat - Cory Bruns 1st from 1st and Jimmy Hurley 2nd from 2nd, BC 3rd from 6th. Third Heat - Jeremy Standridge 1st from 2nd and Robbie Standridge 2nd from 1st. Fourth Heat - Brian Brown 1st from 2nd and Chris Urish 2nd from fourth. Only real mover in the 8 car dash was Joey Moughan from 8th to 4th. Feature - Brian Brown 1st from 1st, Jarrod Hull 2nd from 2nd, Terry McCarl 3rd from 5th, BC 4th from 7th, Jeremy Standridge 5th from 3rd and Paul Neinheiser 6th from 18th. It was really fun watching Neinheiser move through the field. The rest of the race was actually more fun than the numbers might indicate, with some really hard racing. All in all, pretty good for a wing 410 race. The first Micro heat was especially good, with Carlee Gress jumping out to the lead from 2nd and then barely fighting off Austin Stewart for the win. The only other time I have seen her race was down at Belleville a couple of weeks ago. Spun about half way through the POWRi Micro feature, went back to 22nd or so, and finished up in the top 10. This young lady can race.
Good racing tonight. The track was in better shape than I thought it would be after an one hour enduro in the afternoon. The weather was absolutely perfect, blue sky and warm weather. As much as I prefer nonwing racing, the last two nights have been more than worth it. You get a good show with MOWA at Lincoln and Jacksonville.

Yeah Frank, I think they had the track rolled pretty hard for the enduro race. It got slick, then rubbered up around the bottom. You are right, the weather was perfect, and there was a nice gathering of sprinters. I'm a little sad because it's the last race of the year. I didn't get to as many races this year. There were a lot of rainouts in the spring. Still, I hit most of my old haunts, and caught a few new tracks (Haubstadt, little Belleville, and Wayne Cnty IL). To me 2013 will be remembered for losing some good people.

I would just like to say, the last Shaheen's Super Weekend ran at Little Springfield in 1986 was won by the Stoops Racing team, both nights, with Steve Butler behind the wheel of my 1983 Gambler. I ran the same RR both nights, MC-2 Big Mack. Both nights paid $2500. to win, $1500 for second. Good pay day back then. I have a good picture of Joe Shaheen and our racing team in Victory Lane. The trophy Steve is holding from the last night and the last race ran there, was presented to the Knoxville Hall of Fame in 2005. I have that picture, but do not know how to post it on this site. If some one would like to post it on here, I would be glad to e-mail it to you.. Phil Poor
