The silvercrown car count will be low,I know alot of ownes are not getting very excited about getting their cars ready to run because its only a 4 race season on pavement and the cost of getting ready,{usac fees}and rising travel cost just make it very hard to do.To go to Richmond you will need to run 4th to cover tire bill and fuel for the race car,Last year you could run 15th and break even on tires and fuel,Yes you can spend alot more but i am talking a shoe string budget,

Does anyone know where I can find the entry list for the Silver Crown division at Richmond this weekend? I've nosed around but can't find any info. Also, where can I find the purse payout? And how does it compare to last years purse for the new generation cars? Will it be the same as the "old" pavement car purse was? Or is the purse the same as last year? Curious minds.....

David, the Richmond purse is $80,00, $500 more than the 2005 traditional car purse was, that extra $500 is going into the point fund. The 2006 and 2007 new generation SC purse was $113,500, $8,000 from that amount went into the point fund the balance was the feature payout.

The total purse from the entry form is $80,000 for 30 spots, $4,500 of that $80,000 goes to the point fund, $73,400 is the amount paid out for the feature. If only 15 cars show they will not pay out the full $73,400, they will only the purse for the number of spots that show. The top 20 purse break down is as follows:
1st - $15,500, 2nd - $8,000, 3rd - $5,500, 4th - $4,100 , 5th - $3,300, 6th - $2,775,
7th - $2,475, 8th - $2,300, 9th - $2,100, 10th - $1,900, 11th - $1,800, 12th - $1,700, 13th - $1,600, 14th - $1,550, 15th - $1,500, 16th - $1,450, 17th - $1,400, 18th - $1,300, 19th - $1,250, and 20th - $1,200.

David, SC96 posted on here earlier that he thought 15 cars was the accurate number of SC teams travelling to this race, I took the payout out five more spots.

In an earlier post at the beginning of the month I listed a number of reasons why I felt this race would draw a low car count. One of those main reasons was the purse vs todays economy. USAC car owner membership is $500.00, if you are a SC pavement only car owner running four pavement races that equates to $125.00 a race for the car owners membership fee. The entry fee for each race is also $125.00 per race plus pit pass, it cost a car owner $350.00 to $400.00 just to walk thru the pit gate at each race.

With todays gas prices it is costing most teams a dollar a mile to go down the highway. Add to that hotel rooms, food, fuel for the race car, tires and driver and crew pit passes, most teams will spend $5,000 to $6,000 to run this race.

Earlier today Mark Wilson posted under another thread that RFMS-Fike, WBR-Wilson, Marietta ans Keith Kunz were in line. I have seen no entry list posted anywhere, I guess we will have to wait until the cars go out on the track to see who is there.

Awesome info Patti, thanks! Wish I could make it out there this weekend. I went a few years ago and absolutely loved Richmond! We went to the Iowa IRL race last weekend so that kinda ate up the "disposable" income for the month. Will definately go to Richmond again someday, highly recommend it to anyone in the area to go. I see the Phoenix, AZ location under your name, do you live there? I was out there last month for work and went to Manzy for the ASCS non wingers. Cool show, Charles and Jeremy really go at it! Thanks again for the info and you're right, we'll have to check the live updates for the car count. :thumb

Your welcome David! The last time I was in Richmond the wether was as warm as the temps they are predicting for the weekend. It will be extremely important for the teams to drink alot of water and avoid heat exhaustion.

I have heard rumors if there is a low car count at Richmond, it will be gone from next years schedule. Let's hope not!!!

Yes, I live west of PIR and attend Manzy on a regular basis when not visiting back east. Davis and Sherman always put on a great show.
