Russ Conley was just another wanna be big time race promoter who didn't win any friends at Atomic. In my opinion he really hurt that track.

As for now, that area has been hit hard by the economy. Locals just can't support the place on a weekly basis with those $20-30 race nights. And thru the past 15-20 years the promoters worried more about the "out of town" teams than protecting their own local race teams. So, it brings you to where we are today. The local area isn't the strong open wheel community it use to be. Good luck to anyone who gets the place. It's a nice facility and the track needs work to bring it back to what it once was but it could be done.

It would be interesting to see someone try this, but I don't think the physics would work out.

Just think about it....you have a hard packed track, you turn on the soaker system, the areas where your water is gets more moist, but the water only comes up where the soakers are located. Now you have very wet spots and hard packed spots. I think the only thing you would do is create a bunch of ruts in the track.

An idea that I have seen tracks do successfully is to have a "mister" water truck. It puts down a very fine mist of water on the track. This gets mosture onto the track but does not overwater it.
