Can't say for sure whether 33 Kurtis Kraft copies would go over or not but there was a lot of doubt whether an Indy 500 without Penske, Newman-Haas, Andretti and Fitipaldi would fly. The '96 500 ran as promised. A variation of the West Coast Supermodifieds that Hamilton and VukyIII ran may rate a closer look. My suggestion would be take the crutches off and make the driver a larger part of the equasion and let car control skills be highlighted to a greater degree. What they designed for 1997 was a huge disappointment in my opinion.

I think that what Indy showed us was that Indy has the base to work with. Even with the new cars it can be a heck of a show. I still believe you need more ovals. I dislike pavement races, but love Indy and Indycars. Now I got pretty jazzed up with the Indy 500 race problem is the next couple I'll try to watch will be follow the leader on a road course and I'll lose interest, fast. Indycar has sort of the same problem as silver crown or whatever they're called, lack of big ovals wether it be a mile dirt or 2.5 paved.

I think Randy Bernard is the best leader American open wheel racing has had since before the CART/USAC split in 1979.[/QUOTE]

The talk on the Indy News Stations this morning said Randy may be looking for a new job. They were saying he was on his way out??? I don't know. It seems like the racing was the best in years and the attendance was up???

Miller said it was "a couple Chevy car owners" that were trying to push him out, so take a wild guess.

By the way, no you can't understand a word they're saying but this is an awesome homer call of the last couple laps:

Looks like a big soap opera. These people must be afraid of a little success.

Actually, after the Belle Isle Detroit Grand Prix street course race this week, we get three ovals in a a row.
