I was actually pleased when Rick Lane advised Gregg and I that there were 17 sprints in the house. I had feared we might be looking at 10 or 12. Even more pleased when our stroll through the pit area revealed a high quality field of competitors.

Let me add my Congratulations to Logan Hupp on his first feature win. You just knew it was a matter of time as he was clearly one of the most improved in '11. Mike Miller showed he hasn't lost much, if anything, since his track champ days (2002 ?). Heck of a race.

Hated to see Justin Owens bang the wall in hot laps damaging the car too much for further running. I believe he is a mini-sprint graduate. He looked about as fast as others in his hot lap group. Get 'em next time.
Also wanted to see Joe Liguori run but it was not to be. And as good as the feature was (it was terrific), can't help but wonder what might have been had Chase Briscoe, and Brady Short not had early trouble and had Joss Moffatt not had issues with a lapped car. Such is racing.

Looks to me like about the best way to grow sprint car count at the 'Burg might be to find mini-sprint and/or modified competitors who have the desire and, more importantly, the means to try the sprints. Geography seems to be the biggest obstacle (IMO) with the majority of sprint car teams/owner/drivers residing in the Indy, north of Indy, and west of Indy areas. While we'd all like more cars, if we can get the quality each week to match that which competed last night, I'll be good with that.

Happy to see Shawn Westerfeld and Michael Fischesser (with me also being a "fish") back. Shawn came from way back in his heat. And Michael had to be pleased with his top 5 run after experiencing fuel problems last week at Lincoln Park. Speaking of top 5's, our boy Studley raced to (he said "survived") to run 2nd in his heat and grabbed a fifth in the feetch. Way to go Stud. We liked that in Section "A" but hope for and expect more in the future.

I'm guessing Dave was fairly pleased with the fan turnout on such a cold (NO........it wasn't "chilly", it was cold) night.

Would liked to have been at Eldora but, wuss that I am (Gregg, as well), I let the weather keep me 1.3 miles from home. Turns out I am happy with the decision.
