4. As for gold crown, it's a big pipe dream in the present economy. When the economy was good , they could barely draw 20 cars for a show.

5. You are also dreaming if you think gold crown is going to take you anywhere else. The only thing that does that now is M-O-N-E-Y.
IMHO I think rolling wheels would not be a good venue, track prep sucks.

That is a good question. My guess would be 1980 something.

I want the series to survive too. But I think that USAC is going to have to do something to help. I am afraid if they go ahead with the Gold Crown series it will get ugly again. They could have been promoting the Silver Crown series and paying higher purses instead of trying to re-invent the wheel. The thing that still blows my mind is that USAC was paying the promoters to put on races for the new generation cars because the promoters didn't want those cars they wanted the old Silver Crown cars !

I dont think USAC was paying the promotors to run the New Gen cars! I do know NASCAR was paying out part of the purse though. And the tracks that NASCAR was paying out on you could not run the old sc cars on anyway. Also USAC is not spending one dime of their money on the GoldCrown series. The Gold Crown series as it stands now is being funded privately all the R&D for the new bodies road course testing and other changes are not on USAC"s dime. As long as USAC continues to drop races in the sc div that div will die off. I just hope things change to where they can book more races for this div so it can grow again.

I overhead Kevin Miller say that USAC had paid the promoters to run those cars.

I had never herd that but if you herd that from Kevin it may be that he was talking about the money that was given to USAC by NASCAR to pay out for the NEW GEN cars. I do know that NASCAR had a heavy hand in putting the NEW GEN deal together. But as far as USAC spending USAC money to buy races I dont remember ever hearing that. But anything is possible. I have learned one thing after going through all this is make sure the powers that be when a deal is put together are the same powers that be to see it through and they have the power to make the final decisions.
