I'd say Sammy's tail tank holds close to if not just as much fuel as any other... I remember a few years ago when the Wilke's ran a mini-sprint tank on Tracy Hines' car...

*Actually, back in the 80s I made a tail mold for the badger midget and built a couple new parts.
*When Shrader saw Higman's #55, He told Bob to take it out of the crate so he could see what it looked like.
* When the first "munchie" showed up a the Indy Speeddrome, It had a few rules "misinterpretations". The general opinion of the other owners was that if USAC wanted to run midget supermodifieds then everyone would have to build them...... It was rather interesting, that back then, the Speedrome was so important that somebody would actually build a "special" just for there.

I think Sammie wanted to pull a "Bondio" and make controversial talk. Have everyone look at the tail tank but how about the side panels you almost can't get your hand through the slot. Pretty soon they will close off the side and have a mirror. Only they know how much side force that creates..

I think the advantage is not in the actually tank but the shortness of the tail bar and shape of it. The Chili Bowl is alot about staying out of trouble, whether you cause it or not. A normal contoured push off bar isn't ideal in a short track situation. The square rear bumper is. It helps make the car shorter and makes the car less likely to be turned around from some bumping them from behind. A shot to the flat rear bumper by a trailing car entering the corner will either push the lead car forward (but straight) or cause the following pushing car to deflect off to the right side of the car. Also I don't think the Chili Bowl operators are going to say boo about rules to a 4 time champ. You have to be really crazy to have a "rules" violation in Tulsa. I am curious about the overall chassis length... it looks short. Any idea on who built the chassis or if it is indeed a Chili Bowl one off?
