I can't see them strong-arming people to the point that they will not be able to compete. Now; I am sure you will have to get some sort of Temp. Permit or what have you, but not letting someone compete; I find that hard to believe.

Besides, that would be a good chance for USAC to build good will amongst the .25 community(Really; do they have to be called that? Makes me think of the caliber of a gun or something) and prove skeptics such as myself completely wrong.

Like I told Jason and James, I want to be wrong. Prove me wrong. Show me why my thinking is completely wrong. Show me that you are wanting to provide a place for kids to race and learn how to race properly instead of it being a cash grab for USAC and Hoosier. The term "Career Ladder" and the age groups 5-15 just don't gel together well for me.

USAC should want to be apart of the quarter midgets and it is a good fit, but it is only a good fit if it is done for the right reasons. Selling memberships and tires I would hope would be only a small part of the reasons for doing so.

I encourage anyone who wants to join USAC to do so, because even for me it is something that I look at as something that I am proud of that I was able to be listed as a USAC car owner, but just don't do it blind.

For all of you non QM racers I hope this doesn't hurt the image of qm racing. As a lifelong qm racer and supporter we need to, expand the reach of the best kept secret in motorsports. As Eric Gordon said, we have had many sucessful racers start their racing careers in 1/4 midgets. not .25 BTW.

I am glad former qm racers like him will be again in the fold. I hope he gets involved with the Mini Indy club. His vast amount of knowledge of real world motorsports will be a help in r4 and QMA.

If any of those on this message board want to see some really good racing this winter. The 52th Buckeye Indoor Winternationals will take place on the following dates.

November 22, 2008
December 13, 2008
January 17, 2009
January 31, 2009
February 14, 2009

Heat races start at 9:30 am and will run till enitire program is finished. Last year the series averaged 220 plus cars each race date.

The indoor series is located in the O'niel swine barn on the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ohio. Admission to the races is always free, with a 5 dollar parking fee.

If the Ft Wayne Rumble series is your only reference of qm racing. You have not seen real qm racing. AA deco class racing has to be seen to believe, 5.80 second laps, 136 cc flat head engines making 15 plus hp at 12,500 rpm's is crazy. Come and see for your self why all of us love qm racing like we do.

I am Jimmie Phelps and I approved this meassage.

You have to see, AND HEAR in person, a field of AA's to get a sense of what they are. IMO - there is only one thing better than the sound of a sprint car idling - it is an AA starting.

Videos doesn't do QM's justice - but realize the infield of this track is 130+ ft long, watch the timer, and listen to the driver describe how it feels. Starts around the 3 min mark.

A.J. and I are getting the 1/4 (.25) midget ready for the Columbus race this Saturday. I am truly amazed at just how skilled some of these kids are the art of racing. I have seen races at Columbus where the lead is swapped twice per lap for 5 consecutive laps with NO CONTACT between the drivers. I can see why it is a great training ground for drivers before moving on to other forms of racing.

The "Three Ps" ruin many organized activities for children:
Parents, Power, Politics
Speaking as a grandparent who has had 2 grandsons in QM racing (and a third one is waiting), I just want to caution those involved with the decisions being made in the QM sanction split: Please do not let the Three Ps and your personal agandas interfere with good judgment.
Remember, QM racing is for the kids.
