It's a great time!
Terre Haute: Cheap ticket (I think $15) is infield ticket, bring your lawn chairs and set up camp going into turn 1, I promise you wont be disappointed. You can buy a grandstands pass that allows you entrance into the infield as well. Pit pass allows you entrance everywhere. The covered grandstands are a major plus if it gets hot.
Putnamville: We usually sit on the hill outside of turn 4, near the bathroom and shade tree. Bring your lawn chair. Great food, and nice new bathrooms. Grade A facility!
Bloomington: Again, we sit on the hill outside turn 4. View is kind of a long way off the track. And a long way from the bathrooms, Sorry I dont have more info on anywhere else to sit there. Make sure you get the ice cream!
Haubstadt: Sit as high up as you can, and I suggest turn 1. Great view watching em back it in. I suggest eats at Stroll's Amish Buffet about two miles from the track on HWY 41.
OK, I have a question about that: Whats the easy way to Bloomington track from I-70? I used Mapquest last summer coming from Putnamville & it took me all thru town, got lost, had to stop & ask directions FOUR times! There has to be a better way

Or if you're into architecture, Columbus is the place to be. Ranked in the top 10 in the nation in terms of architectural wonders, a past All-American city with plenty of places to eat and sleep.
2 hours from Terre Haute, a little over an hour from Bloomington, 90 minutes from Lincoln Park and about two and a half hours from Haubstadt.
Home of Tony Stewart, Dave Foist, Butch Wilkerson and various others.

This would be my recommendation. Bloomington is one of those tracks there's no one good way to get there unless you're coming from the south up 69 from Evansville or down 37 from Indy.
I have the same issue of getting to Terre Haute from Louisville.
