And they had reds and yellows, but cleaned things up quickly.

I have several questions about Sat. night.

Why was there a third series when no other track had one?

Why was the format changed from the previous races for the Midgets? They had a 24 car semi and it would have be 26 had 2 cars not made the start. That many cars in a semi is asking for a wreck fest.(Me thinks this was done to try and make time for the Tinker Toys)

Why did they not run the Sprints after Midget hot laps to give the Midgets time to tweek their car and keep action on the track?

Why is there so much down time? (What in the hell is a mandatory intermission?)

Why are their track crew so slow and dysfuntional?(They had this gripe at Sprint Week on Wed.,but seem to correct the problem for Thurs.)

Why do they send out 4 or 5 trucks for a minor spin? ( It takes longer to get the track crew off the track than it does get the race car restarted.)

Why do I get the feeling that this show was planned to run late?(Notice the mufflers on the Minis, so they could run after midnight.)

With a track of 3/8ths mile it is evem more important to keep the program running.

There was some great racing and a lot of excitement, but it should have been over before 11:00 not after midnight.

A great race was ruined by poor management.
Don, Yes we ran a bit late, had alot of red flags that night. The midget feature was over at 11pm and by the time winners circle festivities was over is was 11:30 or later. Then we had our sprint feature and some reds and it was over around 12:00 am. We try very hard to run a fast program and be done at a early time, but sometimes things just don't work out that way. Sorry for keeping some of you too late and we will work on the problem. We always do.

Thanks Dave. You are always a class act. The Lawrenceburg Speedway is a classy facility and is always a great place to visit. By the way Dave, Dyno Don even called the people of Anderson, IN. a bunch of "Rubes" because there was an intermission at a Sunday afternoon race at Anderson Speedway. Don't take any offense; just consider the source. Guido Rueben

We had a great time on Saturday (even though our Mini-Sprint was in the trailer after hot-laps with a motor problem).

The USAC Midgets put on a great show. The racing was fabulous. I was really impressed with the way those guys handle their cars.

The program did end late but any experienced race fan would know that when you have three classes and that many cars the racing is going the end late.

Heck, it was Saturday night and the beer was $2.50 a bottle! Even with a broken race car we managed to enjoy ourselves......and anyone that's ever watched the action from the stands when you are supposed to be on the track would know that ain't easy!

Oh Well.....I am off to FOZ to see about getting a motor repaired. We will be back at the 'Burg on Labor Day. Where the heck did the summer go?

For Dyno Don,
Went to Kokomo last night and they had more than 2 classes. Even took time to mess with the track with the tractor and roller a few times. I walked out of the grandstands when they took Stanbroughs car off on the hook, got in my car at 11:52 (I by the way live in Dearborn Co.) I walked in my house at 2:35 this AM. I guess I should be bitchin because the race wasn't over earlier and I got home late. But instead I would like to say WOW! that was some good racing and I am sad to know that school is starting and I can't make that trip to Kokomo anymore on Sunday nights until next year. Kokomo thanks for a great night of racing and a great porkchop sandwich. Bob Bressert :applaud:

Bob,

You better quit staying out so late and start getting your butt in the school schedule mode our kids are depending on you! What did you think of the midgets saturday?

Shane,
I hate to admit this but Sat I went to Florence and watch the tin tops run the North South 100 with my brother in law. Was a pretty good show, by the way, I am going to school right now. Midgets put on a very good show last night at Kokomo. later Bob

I thought it was a great night. Track did not get dusty and someone finally figured out how to run up next to the wall --- the fast way around. Wonder if Jeff Bland Jr., will try that line next week after being shown it by one of the rim riding masters.

I left after the sprint feature and was stunned to find it was 1 a.m. when I was climbing in the car. But then, I didn't look at a clock all night either. I just enjoyed the races.

I am convinced that according to Dyno Don you HAVE to be a Sprint or Midget driver to be a race car driver. If you drive a Mod, Super Stock, Late Model, Mini Sprint or anything else...you are lower than scum.

And I didnt see it being mandatory in the rules and bylaws of Indiana Midget Week that you HAD to have just two classes.

It was not about an intermission, but putting figure 8 cars on the track. Those cars were puking smoke and dropping oil.

It was a Midget race and those cars could have caused a serious accident, they had no buisness being there for safety reason.

The Rube crack was about the people that like that kind of racing, ala Speedrome.Take a visit there and you know what I am talking about.

TWO THINGS TO THINK ABOUT 1. Host the midgets and sprint cars together(usac
2. get a date now for next year

You have a great opportunity to showcase your track and it is great !!!!
Start now getting a sponsor and make a big weekend out of it..
Raise the purse and your car count will raise to off set it and the stands will fill up
you can have your NATIONALS right there in Lawerenceburg you have the track
the hotels etc. get some of that lottery money from the tourism board there
and start a big event......
there is Knoxville, Belleville, Chilibowl and many more bring a big one to southern
Indiana
keep up the good work!!!!
