It hasn't been IRL for several years, it is called IndyCar for what it is worth. Miller talking about too much negativty is a bit humorous since he loves to go negative. However, in fairness to Miller he attacked George and the IRL because the split nearly killed the Indy 500 and Indy type racing. In that he was correct, the split was extremely destructive.

The split with USAC ended Indy car oval racing as we knew it. CART, iike it or not, was successful, had good sponsorship, races on national TV, plenty of teams, etc. The split with TG sounded like a good idea, oval racing only, giving opportunities to grass roots racers but in the end all it did was create a mess which IndyCar has been struggling to recover from for years. Opened the door for NASCAR to dominate big time racing in the US. No sense looking backward, I dont think TG is going to buy IndyCar back. He could not make it work the first time, no reason to think it would get better in round 2. It does look like IndyCar is on an upward trajectory now so I hope they make it work. Not because of the street racing but because of the ovals they do have. Triple crown is back, hey its a start.
