I recall a man that made it happen. He arranged it so the west coast teams toured to the midwest tracks and beyond. He wanted to make sure that the boys ran at places "that make the hair on the back of your neck stand up just walking into the place", to quote him. He wanted to ensure that the midwest teams had proper incentive to haul out west and run for a couple weeks when racing shut down for the winter in Indiana. He just made it happen, and it worked.
the key to your statement was "when racing shut down for the winter in Indiana', Still have a month to go in Indiana. Maybe this event should be scheduled a few days before the Ovals.
I'll give it a bump, how many times did CRA, Ron Shuman with his Non Wing Championship, SCRA go back and race Speedweek (TEN OR TWELVE CARS) and can anyone tell me how many times the Chaffin car towed back there, any idea? Did they race for points not for USAC? NOPE!
When one of your better car owner running for the USAC points cry about towing out West and crashing all the time at Perris at end of the year races.
Like I said come out West see your USAC and World of Outlaw idle, then you think THAT is a track? You never seen Stoga.
Just wait when the EPA shuts us all down because of dust and noise! It's coming. That heavy hand.
This is my first race of the year, anyway.
Could this be the last Year for the 410's at Perris?
Indiana boys race 60-70 times a year, most of them take a month off late fall to be people, then they rebuild their stuff so they can run 70 more races.
Who is better or has the most bad-ass tracks is just noise!! To me there could be nothing faster or more bad ass than Eldora, my late friend Gary Sakola used to tell me story after story about Calif. tracks. Maybe it is just sprint cars that are so bad-ass.
The best always end up racing in Indiana regardless of from where they came!! We in Indiana gets so used to the Calif. guys after a few years and we start to think they are one of us Hoosiers!
