As a single Dad most places charge the same for kids as an adult and I understand it may have something to do with insurance. My point is when they redid the track the pits and the grandstands were put in two different counties. At the old Burg I could look up from working on my race car and see what my family was doing and sit next to them for a race or two. You can't do this with the new layout. It also creates a kind of separation that a lot of fans told me they hate about the new track, but Dave and his crew have added things like the redraw to help this. I wish I could pay general admission for my kids to sit in the pit stands because that is really all they want to do is watch the races and hangout with their Dad every so often. That's why you see me as a general admission spectator more often than a racer. I wish they could do something because I know others like me. I will be back though. I have to because I was slower than the water truck last time. On the rest of the crap like track prep and such you guys need to lay off. Dave wants to see agood show just like the rest of us.
Shane i see your points and agree with you. The problem with the pits in my own opinion not only at lawrenceburg but all tracks is getting too many kids running around the pits and one of them getting ran over. I have seen cars come off the track at alot of tracks flying through the pits because they are mad at what happened on the track. I could not live with myself if i allowed kids in the pits for free and one got ran over. It has happened before and will happen again.
When i use to drag race it was great!! everyone was allowed in the pits. but you did'nt have 20 cars coming off the track at one time. it was only two spaced out and those cars were usaully towed or drove slow. I will continue to think of a solution for this problem.
Thanks, Dave
Dave I agree I don't want kids in the pits either. Especially with sprint cars. My boys are 11 and 8 and very well behaved and still get walked from the truck to the stands but at most places I do not get pit passes they stay in the general admisson stands. Going to the pits is a special thing for them a couple times a year. I just don't feel like I have a choice when I go to the Burg. Thanks for listening and communicating with your patrons. I know at times it can make your head feel like it is going to explode.

Perhaps a solution to think about, Allow the fans into the pits before the race like Gas City does. I think they charge like a dollar and that dollar goes toward the 50/50. You must pay and sign a waiver to get in and then you get 1 50/50 ticket. When you come out, you scratch your name off of the waiver list. That way you still have a list of who is in the pits. They used the gate to the pits from the inside of the track so that everyone had already paid their general admission. Maybe this would allow more driver/ fan interaction and be a good compromise. I know that by the time the races are over and I take my daughter to the pits, a lot of guys are loaded up and leaving for their long trip home.

Yeah, I get that too. USAC's are only 30 and you have a bit more for Lucas and the LBurg Nationals.
I'll be there if Brake Job don't cost too much, Had a brake line rupture yesterday, Thought I was a goner, Made a bee line for ditch instead of truck in front of me. Lucky no damage all the way around.

Eldora has a pre race pit party now at just about every race including tomorrow night. On Family Fun Nights, they take all the cars up to the Fan Zone for an hour for autographs.
Very popular.
