ps , I wish I was your fourth son, sounds like a great time.
We indeed have a great time. Probably too good, LOL. They just want to race. Since their young they have aspirations to race for a living but are not obsessed with it. Its funny because NASCAR or Indycar doesn't appeal to my oldest because they do not have enough races in a season. He likes the idea of a WOO schedule.

As for the fathers who have kids racing, again, only my opinion, but I think it's great. If they are grown, or near grown, or racing in a series that has no or few injuries, and no deaths, have a blast. I cannot think of any better hobby to do as a family (although fishing and camping is pretty cool).
An earlier post mentioned this position as "hilarious". I should probably let that go, as I know it's easy for some to throw a pot-shot out there and run, but that guy needs to spend a few minutes with a racing widow with kids and ask her how hilarious things are for her.
Race? Yes, please! But do it responsibly. The original poster came on here looking for thoughts on running a midget vs. running a late model. Well, now he knows mine, and I wish him all the best with his decision.
Al, your opinion is definately not wrong or without some merit. I take safety very seriously but tradegy can happen anywhere at anytime. Recently I was talking with one of our friends whose kids play baseball. She thinks that racing is definately more dangerous than the stick and ball sports, but understands why we do it. I told here recently there was a little league player in another nearby town that got hit in the chest with the baseball and died. Very tragic. But it shows that danger exist everywhere and you just have to try and do all you can safety wise and enjoy life and have fun.
