Hats off to Dave and everyone there. To pull off a feat like that against those odds for as much of the races as we got in was an undertaking of monumental proportions! I never met Mel Johnson, but I guarantee he would have been proud of everyone. The turnout for that race-cars and fans alike-with that weather-speaks volumes about what kind of person he was and what everyone really thinks about Lawrenceburg Speedway. And it's not that the track was barely raceable, it was frickin' awesome! Very smooth (at least from the stands) and was actually widening out as the heats went on, with very good racing.
KC cancelled early, but it looked so bad all morning on the radar for Cincy, I made a mistake and assumed there was no way Burg could run. When I called @ 3:45 to see when it was rescheduled and learned it was still on and sunny, I was shocked! My help had already left. If I knew 2 hrs earlier they weren't cancelled, I'd have brought the car and raced. So all I could do then was go and watch, but it was still worth it!

One more question about this. Will pit passes be good for any show remaining this year?

Obviously the show on August 8th isn't free, since many of us paid $8 to get in the first time, more for the pits, and they didn't finish the B mains, so you would of thought we would have rainchecks. For those of us that can't make it back for the 8th we are out our original amounts, same for the pits. Free is a misnomer.

Remember in 1997 when Indy rained out on Sunday and Monday and ran on Tuesday? They ended up opening the gates for free on Tuesday. Now that was free event. I did not plan on going that year because I was in school. Worked out well.
Looking forward to the race to not use my $4 DARF Ticket.
