Hmeil won, 2nd Coons on a last corner pass of Clark. Wonder what the crowd size was tonight as all you could see online was empty seats.

HMIEL TAKES ORP’S 30-LAP SPRINT

Indianapolis, IN……..Shane Hmiel of Pleasant Garden, N.C. led the final 19 laps to win USAC’s “Thursday Night Thunder” AMSOIL National Sprint Car feature at O’Reilly Raceway Park in his Rotondo Weirich/Benic Enterprises Maxim/ITI Performance machine. Jerry Coons Jr. passed Henry Clarke for second on the final lap after Clarke had led the first 11 laps of the race. Damion Gardner finished fourth ahead of Chris Windom. Gardner now trails Levi Jones by 18 points going into Saturday’s race at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Mich. Jason Leffler’s bid for the USAC ORP “Triple Crown” ended on lap two as he pulled into the pits with mechanical problems after posting the night’s fastest qualifying time. Tanner Swanson, winner of the recent “Night Before the 500” Midget race at ORP, was involved in a lap-27 tangle with Bryan Clauson and did not finish in the top-10.

The crowd was better than I thought it would be. A week night show with no promotion that I found anywhere. I wasn't expecting very many people.

If they would have even attempted to do some advertising, they would have had a much better turn out. I guess USAC thinks if they put a show on the schedule that is all that they need to do.

Mike

Be nice to people on the way up. You might need them on the way down. Jimmy Durante

The only time I've been to IRP-ORP was the night Staab won, Back then TNT was huge, The stands were mainly full and even the turn four bleachers had and good sized crowd in them.

The only track thats streamed that don't look like a ton of empty seats is Kokomo. Most of the time the camera just overshoots the top two thirds of the stands.

Anywho, COngrats to Shane and finally the Coondog makes up some points for HAR! Wanna see you make that western trip this year
