There was an incident in Vinton, Iowa, about 10 years ago where a driver rammed the car of another competitor in the pits while several people were standing around. The driver earned a lifetime ban from IMCA and from the race track itself -- no matter what sanction he was running with.
Larry Kemp over at Eldora Speedway will remember the incident. He was promoting the Vinton track at the time.

Me personally, I never once said anything about anyone else besides John Memmer.
I did not, and do not, think his actions reflect on any person other than he, and his father.
I do not believe that young drivers, male or female, should or can, be lumped into a single definition.
Each driver young or old, creates their very own persona, and their true character always shows through, good or bad.
Most young drivers that I am familiar with, are fine young citizens, and I am proud to know them.
There however, is always an exception to any rule, i.e. John Memmer.
I only hope for his own benefit, this is truly a learning experience for him and his dad, time will tell.

There are a lot of good kids out there, in racing and everywhere else. They are our future. I think we are in good hands.
