I just got off the phone with Alex's car owner Steve Schaibley and he gave me an update on Alex's condition. The surgeries all went great and Alex has even stood up for a few minutes. That after two surgeries is amazing in itself. He is doing well and looks forward to getting home. The Coonan family wants to thank everyone for all their thoughts and prayers.Hopefully I'll be able to talk to Alex soon and I'll get everyone up to speed. Thanks again John Gurley

hey everybody, this is alex on my sister's iow account. I want to thank everybody for their prayers and concerns for my healing... The doc says no more racecars for me, but i should be out of the hospital after a few more days of physical therapy. I am able to walk and sit up all on my own, just very painful due to the scars on my back and my neck but everything is looking postiive. Once again, thanks for your prayers and concerns!!!!!

Hey everybody, this is Alex's sister Amanda, and I just wanted to thank you on behalf of my whole family, for all your thoughts, prayers, and calls while our family is going through this tough time. While in the hospital, I read the posts to Alex just about every day, and that really cheered him up to hear from you all. He is up and walking around every day and has a long road of recovery ahead of him. He's been a trooper through it all. Hope to see you all soon, good luck in your racing efforts! Thanks again.

Amanda,
I wish your brother the best in his recovery. I know it will be tough for him and all his family and we will all continue to pray for him and the family.

I have not spoke about his incident since that day but I found it quite disrespectful for the interview to take place while the EMT's are taking him out of the car. I know from my perspective that Alex's condition was much more important to the fans than an interview with the winner of the event. Alex put on one hell of a show that day and I will never forget that last lap battle that left him injured.

I still think at that moment the interview should be done after he out of the car and at least in the ambulance on his way to the hospital.

Just my .02...

Jason
