This terrible news! I have never seem him race, but, all of us as a racing community have to feel the loss. I pray for he and his family. This is the bad thing about an awesome sport.

For those who did not know Chad, he primarily raced with USAC/SMRS and any midget event in the midwest. Chad was a regular at the Chili Bowl. Chad always had a big smile on his face and was a true grass-roots racer. He will be missed by the racing community. Chad was the owner of a body shop in Concordia, KS and leaves his wife and two young children.
USAC has set up a memorial fund and as race fans we can greatly impact the family during this difficult time by opening our hearts and our wallets. We always enjoyed racing with Chad and battling him on the race track. God bless Chad and his family.

In a sport full of characters Chad was at the extreme end of the range of personal character. He was the most positive, sharing, and friendly character at the track. He loved racing and he loved helping his fellow racers any way he could. As a recipient of his generosity it is very difficult speaking of him in the past tense. That worn out old saying "he was a gentleman on and off of the track" never applied more. Chad is gone and we can't pay him back but we can "pay it forward" in the spirit that he displayed, and we can support his family and crew.

Soonernation and Bill Harper, thank you for sharing your thoughts on Chad's life with those of us who never had a chance to watch him race or get to meet him. The racing community has lost a great man. My thoughts and prayers have been with his wife, young children, family, crew, friends and fans since learning of his passing yesterday morning. All racers feel the pain the McDaniel family are experiencing during this difficult time.
RIP Chad,
Patti

This a very sad news we will be keeping his wife, children and family in our thoughts and prayers. As a dad and race car owner driver I always look at these acidents and ask what can we learn from this tragic accident. I truly hope that we as a racing family will open our hearts and wallets very very wide. His wife and children are going to need a major support system.
