Heard Hess won. Then Kuhn 2nd Hatton 3rd. Only crash that I heard of was of Bubba Altig, flipped bad but out and ok. Courtney Erfurth also made her midget debut tonight. Ran in the back but I heard she looked good for her 1st race, Congrats Courtney..."Live Your Dream!"
Davey 8th or 9th?? Got limited results so that is all I know... 20 cars.

"Hess kicks off Badger Midget season with Charter Raceway Victory"

By Bryan Gapinski
Beaver Dam, Wis., May 2---Mike Hess opened defense of his series championship by capturing the 25-lap Badger Midget Series, Saturday Night at Charter Raceway Park. The event kicked off the 73rd year of sanctioning midget auto racing for the organization, oldest in the country.
Brandon Waelti paced the initial two laps, before serenading the top position to Scott Hatton. Hatton built a two-second advantage, when on lap 7 Bubba Alitg flipped, escaping injury. On the restart Hatton paced the field, with Hess and fast qualifier Brad Kuhn restarting in sixth and seventh positions. Hess made two excellent passes and moved into second place by the completion of lap 9.
Hess closed on Hatton, while Kuhn moved into third place at the mid-way point. Hatton and Hess were even at the line on lap 14, with Hess making the winning pass exiting Turn 2. Hess increased his lead and with five laps remaining began lapping the tail of the field. One lap Later Kuhn moved into third, and in the final two laps cut Hess's margin, to three-car lengths at the finish.
For Hess who drove the Jerry Hardy owned Buzzard/Hawk#1, the victory was his third in five events at the facility. Completing the top five were Hatton, Chad DeSelle, and Washington State's Austin Wheatley. The complete feature field with the exception of Altig were running at the finish. Hey Fred i walked around during some of the down time but i didn't see you. What did you think of the show? The racing was average in my opinion but some of that had to do with the track conditions. With some rain in the area within the last week i didn't expect it to be that dry? Midget feature was decent though, i wonder if Brad Loyet had a problem with the car, it didn't seem to take off and he ran more laps on the inside than the outside which is unusual. 3 nasty barrel roll flips by Dull, Walters and Altig and all were in the same exact spot as they caught a bit of a rut in the middle of 1&2. Very long night of racing for only 2 classes of cars though.

I agree about having non-wing sprints with the midgets but will we ever see that again..... Why mess around running a midget B when everyone makes the feature anyway? I guess the top 3 got their times back but does that really make that much difference when you only have 20 cars?

I thought it was pretty good racing (except the IRA feature) Hess was looking tough for anyone to stay with, Loyet must have had something wrong, and that Wheatly kid was a hoot to watch. I hope we see more of him at the Praire

What time is the curfew up there? I wouldn't think with 2 divisions they would have to cut the program short. Did they start on time?

The curfew must be 11pm and they ran right up to that. No they really didn't start on time, i thought hop laps were to be at 5 but that's when the drivers meeting was.
