Well he is going to practice this year with the field trying for 2023. Won't surprise me a bit to see him be top of a leader board. After his rookie test that is.

The guy is good but let’s get real people. He is a second a lap faster than one of the best mod guys. What level of racing will Nicely advance to? I’m sorry but excitement over winning a mod race after the “statement he made” of not running Tulsa over prize money is a little much. I’ll be eager to hear the cheering when he triumphs in a street stock sometime.
Comparing the chili bowl to a mod race at eldora on a night he was already there to run a DLM is akin to comparing apples to hammers…. His gripe (if you can call it that) is the cost to participate versus prize money. I know all too well that racing is expensive and I know the chili bowl is an expensive event to put on but for what they take in for the few weeks they are there & god only knows how much streaming money all without paying much of anything to the first week guys makes it nearly ******** for what the chili bowl payout is. Especially considering the cost of midgets and the cost of being in Tulsa for 9 days.

You are absolutely correct that comparing the chili bowl to a support class at Eldora is apples to hammers. The problem that you clearly don’t get is that folks on this board decided to do backflips because he won a race in a division with zero percent of its competitors at his talent level.

You have nicely laid out yours and Mr. Larsons gripe about what you think is a money grab in Tulsa. Funny how that was never Larsons issue the multiple years he ran it and didn’t win. The hero worship for this guy is amazing to me. He has some accomplishments as have been discussed, but can we please wait to admire his greatness until after winning the big events and titles. My goodness we have clowns saying Indy would bore him. Other guys explaining how he might figure out a flat oval with four 90 degree turns like no one else because he is the best natural talent they have ever seen. Sato won Indy but I don’t read about what an amazing driver he is.
It’s great to like a guy and think he is special. Larson has shown his ability to drive well in many different types of cars. The problem is that while people on this board have seen his rise in the lower divisions we all like, he has not won anything on the large stage. He will get his opportunities and might win. Until then he is an accomplished dirt guy with a NASCAR title and a legion of fans thinking he is a racing immortal. BTW the chili bowl was just fine without him and Bell. It actually allowed the group covering the event the chance to spot light the drivers/teams who actually make midget racing what it is. Something that had been lost.
One last thing, whoever said racing was not expensive??

"Large stage"? (other than the nascar title you mentioned...which he actually has won two of them...). How about the Allstar race? The Coke 600? 24hr race? Daytona pole? RoYs?
Knoxville? Kings Royal? Can you at least count Bellville, Eldora 4-crown, and Turkey Night as anything???

On the sea of Galilee, Jesus just stepped out of the boat to throw the checkered flag for Larson doing hot laps on it with sprint car, in a no wake zone.

There, do i sound ridiculous enough for you?

I’d bet a hot fudge sundae that you’ve never been in a racecar and likely haven’t spent the first nickel on one.
If you call a post on a board that’s essentially a small part of the racing pie doing backflips that’s your right but it doesn’t make you correct.
And I’d like to hear what you call winning the biggest events & titles?? Knoxville, 4 crown which he swept the first time he was ever at the track, nascar races & championship… I could go on but I’m sure you already know them.
As far as the mod race at eldora… he’d never drove one before and hadn’t been at eldora in 12 years and won…. Name someone else who could do it

Well he won the Kings Royal and last years Castoroil night. But yeah won in his first time in a mod at the track, just as he did midget, sprint and champ car. So yeah. That completes the sweep of a four crown 12yrs later.

Good thing the bet was only a sundae. I drove a sprint car and realized 2 things immediately. I sucked at it and what it would cost to get good at it is not in my financial portfolio. I have given money to some guys over time but do not make a point of being recognized for it.

Once again this dust up started when I mentioned about people putting Larson in the highest realm with the likes of Andretti and Foyt. We are all aware of what he has accomplished as people keep on stating it. I’m sorry if you guys think Knoxville, Eldora, and whatever else he has won is the big time. They are great accomplishments. When(if) he wins the likes of; Daytona,Indy,LeMans,Monaco then we all can say he won the big stuff. If you don’t like my thoughts on this that is your prerogative. What bothers me more is people in general want to be the first to anoint someone as the “goat” before they get there. The fact he won the three races in one nite at Eldora is a fantastic feat. Of course Mr. Hewitt did that plus win the mod race that nite too. Don’t remember reading his name being put with Larsons.

The only thing I will add to this part of the debate is I believe, Yeleyfan, I hope you will agree is , in that era I believe he would have already been afforded the opportunity to achieve those monumental goals. Now days it might not happen. To reiterate, his accomplishments at Eldora are worthy of acknowledgment. You guy’s can hash out the rest
