V Twins would be a definite option had not a few "ANAL" racers had bad dreams about somebody beating them and messing up their position in the scheme of things and "Outlawed" them from competing. Installing a Big V in a Mini-Sprint would require a bit of a learning curve, new ideas are very seldom fast right out of the box, ask the people working on the BMW's right now.

If they spend enough time and energy working out the bugs in their B-mer's they "WILL BE VERY VERY FAST" but it's going to take a little work and energy to achieve it.

But why worry "rules are rules".

This seems to be the new American view of looking at life and achievement in general (Well I would try but there are just too many rules and regulations in my way).

Mac

The US government said the Hill Billy's down in Kentucky could grow that stuff but they better not smoke it.

Guess they will just bump the price up a little and ship it west where the people know how to use it.

We are still partial to "Shine". Or good old "Jack Black".

Being a true Harley freak it makes me sick to even type this...........

We had some guys try Harley V-Twins some years back. Trust me, these boys knew how to make a Harley sing. They couldn't keep up with the old oil cooled Suzuki with mechanical injection back then..........no way would they compete with "ACCEPTED" motors of today. Did they sound awesome? Hell yes. Did they weight two tons? Maybe. Could they get out of their own way? Barely as compared.

Right after the V-Rod came out, we tried to formulate a class that had stock sealed V-rod motors. Even contacted Harley but the idea fell through when it dawned on all of us we woudl be going slower.

BTW.........I still ride Harleys on the street and used to flat track them. Coolest bike made. LOL

Phil

To be honest I don't know if a 2 valve Sportster based motor could do it or not, but the Italians have a couple of 4 valve v2's and v4's that make pretty good power are lighter than most Jap's and would be fun to play with. If I left out the body wrap and maybe the twin adjustable heavy duty super wing slider, I might be able to work one in.

Just wondering what is the difference between a "Lightning Sprint" and a "Midget". Do we set the line of demarcation at so many cc's or how many Horsepower or cost of the motor package? Maybe the size of the top rail? Would a 305 Sprint Car really be Middy Sprint since it's motor is a tad small when compared to a 410 sprint?

PS: You would have loved WKS Doug said his eyeballs got into a high speed wobble toward the ends of the straights!

Congrats Andy on your win sorry I missed it. And to the guys and the V twins there used to a guy that came up from the south was really fast but ran out steam to soon before getting to the corner.
