The purses have not come close to the increased cost to race,we need car counts but also exciting racing. Each car brings friends & family. The racers who race to win bring fans. I do not want to be a promoter but i want to race. When I race i want to win. For this to work I need to be rewarded for that so we can keep racing. It is all a gamble. We all need each other. Some tracks pay the purse from the pit gate. The most successful ones pay it from tickets to see a show. The economy is tough and we all love our sport. We need to do our best to promote our sport and help each other when we can. We need to look at all aspects and be part of the solution.

If you want purses to go up... Race at the higher paying events.
When a race paying $1200 to win gets more cars than a race paying $3000 to win why should the promoter raise the purse?

Bill is the Boss here, and as his last statement shows a smart one. Also why worry what it pays through the back half of the field. If you go to the track with that in mind, you definitely don't plan on winning, and you're beat before you go to the track.

somehow I never considered sprint car racing a hobby and I like the idea of spreading the wealth, but its never going to sit well by taking some off the top

Well, if a weekly track paid what the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series does for a standard show, we would all be much happier! Thanks to Aaron Fry for standing up for the local racers! $1500 to Win $250 to start! Nice!

How many races and or, tracks has Billy Puterbaugh promoted????? He only knows "one side" of the racing economics. When it gets to the point where it becomes a "Hobby" (meaning making no $$$ or, worse) for the promoter, the gates close.

As Cecil pointed out. The Promotor is no longer the owner and probably doesn't have the number of connections the old promotor had as far as sponsorships etc.
The Promotor now has a Lease and that takes money off the bottom line.
