This will be the post where I learn my lesson about posting while my blood is boiling...

But KJHolley.... try to speak of things of which you at least know the slightest bit about. If you think that during the few seconds that it took our MOWA scorers and flagman to determine who won the race, the thought of who was driving which car even entered their mind... then you really don't 'get' this sport.

I can assure you that Jake, Pam or Randy don't give two craps about who won the car race. It's their job to score and flag the race and determine the winner. There is no way... NO WAY that these folks who have spent hundreds, if not thousands of hours both at and away from the track to help build MOWA into respectable racing series would piss all of that work and effort and hard-earned reputation away to declare Bryan Clauson the winner over Chris Bell just because Bryan in your eyes has the bigger name of the two.

With all due respect to Bryan, if he is a bigger name than Chris Bell at this moment in time - especially in the winged sprint car world, it's not by much. Chis Bell can win in anything with 4 wheels and is one heck of a young man. As I congratulated Chris after the race, I could see the disappointment in his eyes. It was obvious. He thought he won. He had every right to think he might have won. And he handled himself with the same class and professionalism as he has every single time I've had occasion to meet the young man.

Congrats to to two of the best sprint car drivers in the world right now on an incredible finish.

TJHolley,

Speaking as a college and high school athletic official as well as a former short track official, I can honestly say that YOU DON"T HAVE A CLUE! This is just a typical example of someone spouting off without the slightest bit of knowledge of what it takes to do this job. Posts like yours just piss me off big time. A great second post by the way.

At Haubstadt we also score the Mods and I do the pay offs Had a driver question where he finished so I got the sheets out and showed him that all 3 scorers had him in same spot every lap I asked him why he thought he was 4 places ahead he said he counted back I smiled and told him If you stop counting and just drive harder MAYBE we could score you farer ahead Had me thinking bout the old saying Just shut up and drive

If you can't tell who won that by race by looking at the pictures of the finish, or even the video then I can see why you said "former" when you described your officiating background.. Great 3,744th post by the way.

Okay. If you think tracks, promoters, and series don't play favorites, then you sir live in a fantasy land. The fact of the matter is if you make the correct call, all this is a moot point. Instead of "taking a few seconds" review it make a correct call. I was watching the race live on the broadcast along with 5 other people and we all couldn't believe they gave it to Clauson..

And you're right Bell handled it with more class then 99% of most racers.

I was in no way taking a shot at the MOWA series, or track officials, if it sounded that way I apologize, but make the correct call and this isn't an issue.

Last comment, then I'm going to stop getting baited into this...

Q: Which cone "won" the cone race?

A: Neither. They are directly even when viewed from the finish line. This photo was taken just a few feet to the right of the finish. Not even as far to the right as I believe the actual camera was positioned.

In the past week I have come to sympathize with those that have spent their life analyzing the Zapruder Film.

KJHolley - The people here are probably tired of us talking about this. If you wish to have more details, please email me at kdobson99 [at] gmail.com. It's for sure not as easy as reviewing a video tape. Lots of other variables. Especially when 3 people watching the line called it for Clauson. Next race we'll hand drivers a red flag they can throw on the track when they want an instant replay like the NFL. Thanks for your interest in our race. It shows it was important enough to have opinions about a week later and that's a good thing and something to build on.

So you were watching the race via broadcast and accept that over the officials? It was a hell of a race so do you have a special interest in who won, thus a bias?
