Most venues that host sporting events do not allow you to take in anything nowdays. The ones that do, well thats just a feather in their hat.

Sort of like taking in your own food and drink to a movie theater. Not! Race tracks are businesses which can only stay in business and provide us a place for racing if the bottom line is in the black. Concessions are significant part of the formula that makes this happen

I really didn't see anyone griping about the rules different tracks have, just making observations. It's business, if Kokomo promoters believe that there policy is the best business decision for them, more power to them - no big deal. NO tracks around STL allow coolers. The Cardinals allow you to bring in soft side coolers, food, drinks / just no beer or bottles

Obviously it would be nice if spectators could carry coolers into the grandstands everywhere. I have no problem with either policy, it's the owner/promoter's decision.

Only gripe I ever had is if it isn't clearly signed at the grandstand entrance or in the case of seats purchased ahead of time isn't prominently noted on the ticket.

One of the first times we went to Du Quoin for Labor Day race weekend there it was hotter than the hubs of he!! and we were camped 'bout 3/4's of a mile away from the grandstands. When we got to the grandstand entrance we were told the cooler that we were totin' wasn't allowed.

Needless to say by the time I schlepped all the way back to the camper and returned without the cooler I was drenched in sweat and more than a little bit pi$$ed off. We told the lady at the gate to be sure to tell Sarge to have the no cooler policy printed clearly on the ticket and put a prominently place sign at the box office window to make the walk-up ticket buyers aware of the policy.

Can't remember what year it was but Sarge had just taken over promotional duties at Du Quoin and Springfield. That's been a while and it still isn't on the tickets for either place or in the information that accompanies the tickets when they come in the mail nor is there any kind of signage at the box office or the entrance gates.

Not really ******** about it, more just telling the truth.. I love making the trip and going to kokomo, tailgating etc trust me.. Just for those five minutes entering the gate is a pain and funny in a way..
Hell sometimes I try to talk myself into making the trip for weekly shows

I wonder if the beer prices are still low. If I recall, they were even lower than at my local.
If I recall last year the beer price was either $2.25 or 2.50 a can at Eldora (thats usually the happy hour price at bars around here) I was in the pits at the April USAC race this year so I don't know if the price is the same or not.

oh my...it's the little things huh? Let's not pick Kokomo out of the bunch to jump on about this, we just went thru the same thing at the Hoosier 100, and it is now the norm at Gas City also. The lucky part is that you still have a few venues that DO allow it, be thankful for that, not so hateful for the places that need the extra income to stay afloat. Kokomo has put alot of money into their facility just to keep us entertained, the racing is hot, the beer is cold & cheap, and where else can you get a porkchop sandwich like theirs? Travel light and you get right thru, fight with them and you get slowed down. What if the guy sitting next to you didn't have that lump in his jacket pocket checked out and it's a hand grenade, weirder things have happened. Just take a deep breath and go have fun at the races, it's what your spose to do, hope to see you there, with a smile on, bob
