It shows that at 3:56 pm (15:56 below), it was 56 degrees with the conditions listed as fog/mist. Again, really doesnt matter, but I feel like someone needs to keep you on your toes around here.

WGAS what the NWS says.

In Piqua (1/2 hour S.E. of Eldora) at 4:05PM Saturday it was flat out sunny, and 70* according to the bank downtown!

I am curious why it was USAC and not Eldora that pulled the plug. Was USAC afraid of another night like Friday? Did Eldora want to try and run?

Eldora took great pains to make sure that everybody realized that USAC was calling the shots on Friday and Saturday. Whether it was the drivers electing to let the mods and stocks run before them to try and bring the track into shape, letting the fans know that USAC pulled the plug Friday due to the dense fog or USAC pulling the plug Saturday when it rained in the afternoon.

It made me wonder if they were trying to avoid any repeat of last year's backlash by making everybody aware that USAC was making all the decisions. It also made me wonder if that tact would backfire by making people think that USAC had little to no confidence in Eldora's ability to get the track prepped and therefore was calling all the shots.

I will leave it to the more experienced members of this forum to debate whether Tri-State, Kokomo or Lawrenceburg would have been able to pull this show off given similar conditions.

Whatever the case, I am out the hotel stay. Made the most of the rained out Saturday night show and went to the "Bistro on Broadway" in Greenville. Very good food. I would highly recommend.

Ok you had three tractors on the track but I don"t think they are anyone else on your crew know how to work a track and not just a wet one but at any kind of a track. I also think thats a cheap shot saying it was all USAC fault for pulling the plug ! With the track the way it was and the time wasted Friday what the hell else they suposse to do? signed a former fan of eldora

All I heard from two announcers Sat (One who'd never been to the track before) Is how hard they work, What a awesome track it is yadda yadda yadda. Reguardless. THE TRACK WASN"T READY for the second straight year in a row.

The problem as I see it as everything at Eldora has improved a bit EXCEPT FOR THE TRACK. Earl did two things, Opened the gates and ran the show, Or didn't open the gates at all.

One thing clearly missing is the number of push trucks. That place always had 25-40 there almost always more than cars in the main class. Im no expert but some more wheels and a couple sheeps foot going and the show friday would have been completed before the fog.

The Nascar Experience, Lets see, didn't they used to run on Dirt, Mud, Dust and even oiled down tracks?
