from what I understand, both of you are pretty light on your guesses. I understand why promoters can't afford the up front $$$$. Don't blame them.

I have no idea how much it costs to bring the Outlaws in but they had over 70 dates on their schedule this year. So somebody can afford them. The minor leaguers (USAC) had just over 40 dates on their schedule. Not to mention the WoO actually have a decent payout. 7 of the top 8 teams in points have made over $100,000 already, with the top 2 over $200,000, and that doesn't include the big Knoxville purse. That's quite a bit better than the peanuts that the USAC teams are forced to race for.

I would think that with the national type sponsors that most of the top WoO teams have that most are doing ok. But they get those type of sponsors because they race before so many more fans from coast to coast. Unfortunately, USAC has shrunk to being barely a regional type series so most of their teams can barely get local sponsors.

With all their faults, I don't ever remember their equiptment being repossessed, or any checks bouncing. I can not say the same for the Outlaws. Maybe not recently, but it has happened.
