Lowe's was closed so they couldn't run out and buy some more t-posts. Did you see the picture in the other post where they used t-posts for the safety fence.

That's so the post can be replaced more easily, unless you see a six inch fence post planted in concrete thus is what your gonna see at alot of tracks. You can't make everyone happy! Calling the race was the only choice they could make, although this will be the subject over the next weeks post, sh$t happens, how the promoters deal with there drivers is up to the promoters, it is unfourntante that the sprints and midgets got the stiffy but Mason has no control over that. How about the those minisprints running down those midgets!

Ah, well, I was looking forward to calling the show. I did get to call a pair of Sprint and Midget heats.

My first visit to the track (while there were races running) and I was honored that the ASCT was willing to give me a shot at the PA.

Snagged a couple of photos ...

Since we have read about the track surface and the catch fence as a racer view point can anyone give some imput as a fan view point about the facilities. The last time I was there for a Indy Sprint Week which some time ago it wasn't the best. Have any improvements been made to the restrooms (when I was there it wasn't much more than a glorified outhouse) or to the concessions stand. I was in Vernon the other night and never did find the road to the track or I could have over look any signage to the track. Just would like some feed back as I would like to take in the track some time in the future if improvements have been made.

In the stand I was sitting in in turn four, I counted 31 fans. My estimate for the entire crowed based on that was about 125. Not good. But the weather certainly did not help at all.

I only saw that one yellow sign on the way in to the track. Luckily I've driven there before, so I knew where it was. If I recall correctly, I seem to remember there used to be a lot of signage around town with arrows pointing to where the track was. They're not there anymore for some reason.

The concession stands looked good. The food was good. The restrooms were a little rough. There was no light in there, but pretty comparable to many local racetracks. Obviously as previously mentioned, the fence needs a lot of help and something needs to be done to the wall in turn three. Either decrease the banking or heighten the wall.

The racing was good, so no qualms with that.
