As a relatively new racing fan. What is hero and hot dog qualifying?

H&HD Quals is Jockish Flowers & R&B Racing have posted $500 base purse.

Each team that wants to take part pays $50 to take 3 laps for fastest top 3 qualifers. The 50's add up. Fast time is worth 500 or more depends on number of teams that enter.
Means nothing for race line up just a chance for 10 or so teams to go fast and win money.

Looking forward to a great night of racing along with seeing some friends.... As always, I will be in Brian Hayden's pit and I am sure I'll make a few trips to the front stretch.
