The AMERICAN MIDGET CAR TOUR sounds like it will turn into a good thing for many drivers and owners that cannot afford the costs of even trying to run with the higher priced groups. A void that needs to be filled. Good luck and best wishes.

"NAMARS was a nice little midget club formed years ago, basiclly in the beginning it was like a championship series of races. I believe Rich Vogler driving for Harry Turner was the first champion. It developed into a sanctioning body, Jack Calabrase had control for a while, then he got out and the people who took it over tried to get TOO big TOO fast and it died pretty quickly. The tie in here might be the fact that a group of guys have started not only a new sprint series from the ground up but now are taking on midgets without having sanctioned any races so far so the fear might be another NAMARS, too big, too fast...... "

For what it's worth Mr. Cowin, you're grossly misinformed about NAMARS but it really doesn't make a difference at this point in time.

I do not run midgets, but, I love watching them. I have thought lately that there have been to many types or sanctioning bodies with regular midgets, focus, regional and now another one. I am not speaking anything bad about new one. I will be very happy when I can go to local home tracks(Gas City, Kokomo, Baerfield, Shadyhill) and see midgets more often. But what is differant about this new AMCT and what the Kenyons are backing?

The question of what is diiferent is a valid one. I'll be honest with you if the local tracks would be running a weekly Midget show I probably would not have jumped in with both feet like this but the way it is right now there just isn't any. I wanted to add another element to our series by bringing in another premier draw that would complement our sprint car series. I believe that there is a large Midget fan base in Indiana and in our bordering states that are waiting for something like this to open up. Plus, I was amazed to find out how many Midgets are just parked and collecting dust because their owners feel that they can't compete with the big money teams so they just pretty much gave up. I feel that leaving these cars parked because of this feeling of an inability to compete against the big money operations is detrimental to the sport of Midget racing as I believe it is also the same in the non-wing sprint car ranks. All we are bringing to the table is an option and as with our sprint car series if you choose to run with us GREAT if not I respect your decision. All I ask is that you try us out one time and then decide. Thank you John gurley

If I am so wrong then correct me, but I know for a fact NAMARS was a group of 5-6 races in the beginning to form a type of championship, Rich won the first driving for Harry Turner. Later it became a club, at some point Jack took over then later it was sold to a group from around Indy who then tried to go too big too fast, where am i wrong? I know there is more to the history so fill it in, also point out where I am wrong please if you can.......

The origional NAMARS was made up of many different clubs and Jacks was a stand alone club. Jack was great at promoting his club.

Yes, the orginal NAMARS was made up of several clubs who had a small series of races to make a champion like I stated, and then later a club was formed with the same name that Jack had (and I believe others before him, might be wrong), like i said there's alot more history there, but I was just trying to answer a guys question easily and quickly over the "like NAMARS" statement someone else made, I'd like to know where I am so misinformed and if anyone want to make a new post on the history of NAMARS then please do, might be a good read........

Although I am way behind on the open wheel goings on, I thought the American Sprint Car Tour was a 700 to win 200 to start series. Is it correct that the "support series" will pay 1200 to win and 225 to start or is that just an attempt to sway cars from the Hut Hundred? I guess I would think your intentions were less devious had the Twin Cities race been on the schedule when they originally posted it and your "support division" had a normal pay out on the 8th (if I mis-spoke and your standard pay out for midgets is 1200 I apologize).

Hey maybe you should also start a winged series... After all there is still time to schedule a race at the Chandler Speedway on April 19th against the TSS WOO show as well!

Lowest payout for currently booked ASCT races is $1000 to win, $200 to start. Most are $1200 to win, $200-$225 to start. A couple $1500 and a $2000 to win. It looks like for the midget shows booked already, the payout matches (at least in win money and start money) the sprint payout for those nights. I don't see anything devious there.

The promoter is not trying to attract cars from the Hut Hundred. There will be plenty of teams that will show up for the Hut and there will be teams that from the beginning are not interested in running that type of race. Would you rather see those teams that wouldn't run that race anyway sit home or be racing somewhere? Don't worry, all the high dollar teams will be there at Haubstadt. You are dreaming if you think every midget team in America is going to show up for that race. Not gunna happen.

The answer to your other questions about purse are clearly documented on the ASCT web site BTW.

THE RIDICULOUS BACK AND FORTH ON THE NAMARS DEAL STOPS NOW!

Yes Rich Vogler was the NAMAR NOT NAMARS Midget champ in 1973!
NAMAR was known as the National Alliance of Midget Auto Racing

NAMARS, A TOTALLY DIFFERENT ORGANIZATION WAS STARTED BY JACK CALABRASE IN 1994 AND THE FIRST CHAMPION WAS TODD THOMAS.

THE NAME STOOD FOR SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT THAN THE OLD NAMAR ORGANIZATION!!

NAMARS STANDS FOR North American Midget Auto Racing Series!

THIS IS WHY THERE ARE SO MANY ARGUMENTS ON THIS SITE!!
PEOPLE NEED TO GET THERE FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE THEY POST!!
