I am old enough to remember drivers having to lift to get into the corners!
Hell, for that matter even NASCRAP would a little better in "stock" bodied cars too!

Then you would go watch drivers get up on the wheel, and drive again.

Kinda like you see at a ......................NON wing sprint show!

I think it would be cool to have super series that runs both wing and non-wing cars with 50% winged and 50% non-wing.with a the current woo purse. The bottom line is if you want tv with sponsors that will bring in the best of the best then it's going to cost. Hell, i've even been approached by a potential sponsor for next year that would be interest in helping scora if we would start a deal like that. Of course i don't think it's possible for us right now but was interesting to hear that from a sponsor.
is that why terry mccarl promotes the usac race at oskaloosa iowa? And check out the woo rule book! Usac is miss managed we all know that! When woo started there was no rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey I just posted what the man said.As far as Indy goes I said it from the get-go when the IRL was formed unless they get the Saturday night specials to race in it they will fail. By Saturday night specials I mean guys Haud,Darland(WHO SHOULD HAVE BEEN PICKED UP YEARS AGO!!!), Kinsers( I would have loved to seen Randy get a shot),Elliot Oh'hell the list is way to long but you get what I mean. It'll never happen now but I can still day dream about it.

I always thought the Outlaws never actually sanctioned the Knoxville Nationals, but did award its teams points for participating.
I remember about 10 years ago Cappy getting PO'd at Ted Johnson about saying they were going to do this and that at Knoxville. said pretty point blank that Ted needed to remember that the Marion County Fair Board, and not the World of Outlaws, ran the Knoxville Nationals.

As far as the fuel tanks, had bigger tanks been mandated this year at Knoxville it probably would have hurt the car count even more for those low-budget teams that fill in the field.

Knoxville is a half-mile right beside the inside guard rail where the photographers and track crew stand. The inside racing groove is supposedly five eighths of a mile. Not sure what it is up by the outside wall.

I live in wing country and go for the whole ten nights of Iowa speedweek. The best night of the week IMO has been on Tuesday at Osky. To me since I live in wing country it is the highlight of the week and a treat to see the non wing guy's. I was really bummed that Sunday got rained out. I think it would have been an awesome show. Lets hope that it catch's on. The local fans there are primarily 410 winged fans. I say this because of the poor crowd at the 360 nats. Just as good (actually better) racing and on Thursday and Friday night very sparse crowd, but Saturday for the 360 finals there is a good crowd strictly because the 410's are there. Kinda sad.

Going to assume that most here are non-wing fans, as am I. Ultimately, the way to change people's minds is to get them to a non-wing race so they have something to compare against a wing show. K'ville was for years a non-wing weekly show until they put on the wings after 3 devastating crashes in a very short period of time in the late 70's. So you have a whole group of fans there with little or no exposure to non-wing racing (particularly the young fan or the casual once a year attendee). It should also be said that much has changed in safety technology since those days.
