From my point of view: The MTQRL had a great turnout for the first race. All of the group pitted together and hung out like it was a party and was all having a great time, something you just don't see anymore. The racing was fun to watch, and they put on a great show whenever they was on the track. Sure alot of cars had problems, But for their 1st time out with a brand new series, i think all in all it went really well. We at Lawrenceburg Speedway look forward to seeing the MTQRL in the fall. Best of luck to all of you TQ racers where ever you race.

You have to start somewhere and last night the first brick was laid in what will be a strong foundation for the MTQRL to build upon.

It would have been nice to have 40 TQ's in the pits, 20 cars starting the feature, 5 cars battling for the lead, and everyone still on the track when the checkers waived. Did I expect this to happen? No. Do I expect this to happen this season? Probably not.

But I do see a bright future for the MTQRL. Mark & Jen Frechette have a vision of where they want the MTQRL to go (and grow) and I have faith in them that they will carry out their plan. It's not going to be easy. It will take a lot of hard work but they are in it for the long haul. If TQ racing can return to its glory days I believe the Frechette's, and the people they surround themselves with, can get the job done.

In 9 short months they have accomplished alot. They have started a racing organization from scratch, acquired a title sponsor (along with several contingency sponsors), and scheduled a 20 race season. They have held 2 races to date and have had 17 cars at each show. There have been 26 different cars compete over those 2 races so I think they have a good base to draw from. Next weekend they will be at the Jefferson Co. Fairgrounds in Madison and I think some of the competitors will feel more comfortable racing at the smaller venue.

Give the MTQRL a chance. Remember Rome wasn't built in a day.

From the stands and being a race fan, thats great that they were having a great time in the pits and having a party, , In these hard times fans need and want to get the best show out of the dollar thats so hard to come by these days. So yes I agree best of luck to all, as was said, and the fans will pick whats best for the great dollar.

I've run 8 years in UMRA and can remember times there were single digit cars running at the end, and that was with car counts in the 40's. Gas City last year had a great 3 car battle for the lead, with 2 passes for the lead in the last 5 laps, and about 9 cars finishing. The bigger the track, typically the higher the attrition in these cars...heck there's even been races at Rushville with 6 or 7 cars finishing. It happens! 33 cars finishing a race doesn't mean it was a good one.

Nobody said a word about only 20 cars at Brownstown.....it didn't make UMRA look bad, all of the mud slinging makes UMRA look bad. Which is truly unfortunate....Wonder what hurts TQ racing more? A new club's first race of the year with less than a full field of cars or you guys coming on here trying to start a pissing match? Nevermind, I know the answer, unfortunately, some of you don't.

I watched a couple heats, and what I took from it was that the engines are the problem. Even the cars that were running out front had some sickness in their engines. I think the engine rules need to be updated. Your running engines from the 1970's, and it is lots of work and money to cut a transmission off a motor that was designed to have a trans. Why do you have to conect right to the crank shaft?

If only the rule about having to go direct to the crankshaft were changed the entire world of TQ racing would benfit. Heres why. - The engines could be bought at a fraction of the cost TQ racers are spending now. You can get a complete engine kit for less than one of those down draft heads cost. (There are 2 2007Kaw 636s on E-bay right now for $650 buy it now) All you would need is to have the wiring harness cut (Jeff Barker $175) and a drive shaft coupler like mod lites, dwarf cars, and legend cars run. You can still run a drive shaft through the drivers legs, and to the quick change. You wouldn't need four wheelers anymore because now you would have a clutch and on board starters. Think about how much time it would save to be able to have all the cars start up and take off by them self. Plus not having to buy a 4-wheeler. Look how many mini-sprints had motor problems. Very few.

If you could run a stock engine with the trans, you would see the engine problems go away and a whole lot more of the cars finishing the race. I think the TQ series up east runs engines like these and they are offset so that the drive shaft runs outside the car. Plus they some how have the rules to where 600 mini-sprints can run with them and that helps car count. I don't own a TQ, but if this rule was changed I would! I bet a bunch more people would also.

run stock 1000cc 750, or 600 engines in them. When you don't mess with them they are some of the most reliable engines out there. Those old engines might do good on the fairground tracks, but on the bigger tracks they really don't have the endurance or power. In the Mini Sprint feature I think only 4-5 cars dropped out, none were for blown motors. So maybe an engine rule would help keep these things have more cars finishing at the end? Just a suggestion, not trying to start problems.

Thank you for the engine suggestions. That is one of the issues we have our engine development team working on for future seasons. Something we also feel that is very necessary to preserve TQ racing. Don't be afraid to offer suggestions. Our door is always open to those who want to improve racing.

David, you have a world-class race facility with top of the line people running it! I have never been to a better racetrack than yours. It is clean, fast and organized to prefection. Your people are also very kind and helpfull. They made us feel "at home".
