From the video it looks like Ballou was to blame. If blame is required that is.

Scary Video, I am glad they will both be ok. The real lucky one is whoever went through that crash in the white car, just barely making it in between The flipping cars, amazing.

Looked like a racing deal to me. Both good runs and going for the same spot. My guess is Hunter thought that Ballou was going to stay in the middle and give him room on the bottom. Both guys are great racers that put on a tremendous show on the high side at the Burg and didn't see much blame there just unfortunate.

Very good video of the accident. I would say Robert got hurt when the car hit the wall backwards slamming his head back against his seat.
I really don't think Hunter did anything wrong here. Looked like he (Hunter) was keeping his car low in his line and they just got together. I don't think Robert saw him down there. Just my opinion.....?? Hate to see anybody get hurt though. |

I wouldn't really put the blame on either driver. I mean, it's racing. Robert didn't think Hunter was going to close in that fast, and Hunter was going for position. There's really no reason to blame either of them. But that being said, this was a heat race and both were in transfer positions, so there really wasn't a need to dive down in there like Hunter did. Car owners will remember that, but as fans go, they don't have a reason to blame either one.

This was a racing incident with no fault to either. By the time Ballou realized he was down there it was too late to go anywhere else. I saw Darland and ? someone else hit like that coming off 4 on the USAC live video from Lawrenceburg and both saved it. It's racing.
