ok... i guess i'm an idot for getting excited about this race.

And, what does the USAC regional midgets pay to win normally? Cant be much more than $1000 can it?

Sorry for disturbing you SUPERDUKE, enjoy your life of negativeness.

I enjoyed the sprint car portion of that race last year. The supers and the midgets also had a great night of racing. It was one of the best open wheel pavement shows of the year! Have fun, hope the weather is good.

I have wanted to go to this race for the past few years. It seems like I can never make it. I think it would be cool to see the Supers, sPrints and Midgets on one ticket. I thought Johnny Benson was supposed to run this race too.

Sorry to disagree with you SuperDuke but most of those drivers will be there. This is a full points race for USAC,UMARA and WOMS. A regular regional USAC race pays $900 to win and they have some great equipment at those events. It's not always just about the money, some of these events are just special and to run in front of a full house of 8000 fans at an ALL open wheel extravaganza with the AutoValue SuperSprints and ISMA Super Modifieds is incredible to experience.. Hopefully some day the money will be there but as this event becomes bigger the money will increase. You will see at least 12+ USAC midgets, 12+ WOMS midgets and 8-10 UMARA midgets at this race at the minimum. I want to thank the competitors from each one of these series right now for the fantastic support we are getting for this race. If you had ever been to this race you might better understand what a great event it is becoming. It's only through the co-operation of these three series, USAC, UMARA and WOMS that special events like this can be put together. Thanks again to all the competitors and to USAC and UMARA for their co-operation.
Dan Vander Molen (Owner Wolverine Midgets) By the way Johnny Benson will be driving an ISMA Super Modified

If you don't feel it"s a big race that's fine. Regarding the regional series, it's very difficult for someone in mid- Michigan to travel to Indiana on a Wednesday. We all have jobs and in today's economy it is very tough to justify taking a day off of work to go racing. Most all of our drivers have families to support and race just for the fun of it. An occasional race out of state on a Saturday is all your going to get from our series. Next year we hope to do several races with UMARA and USAC but it will only happen on weekends for us. We get drop in drivers from USAC and UMARA all season long and we enjoy the extra competition. I guess SUPERDUKE I question your motives a little bit but your the first person to say anything negative about this race in the last three years that I have heard. I challenge you to come up on Saturday and I will pay your admission and you can write about it next week on the forum. Let me know. Dan Vander Molen

Dan, Superduke is full of negativity for whatever reason. Todays economy certainly is playing a huge part in the decisions racers have to make as far as the affordability of racing goes. The Berlin race fans are some of the greatest open wheel fans I have ever had the pleasure meeting. The mid-west swing was always high point on the ISMA schedule for me, back then we would race K-zoo & Berlin in June. My God-daughters baby shower this Sunday in Central N. Y. is keeping me from being in Berlin. Otherwise my return trip to Az. would have been planned thru Delaware & Berlin.

I hope you have great weather, good car counts in all divisions, safe racing and a fun time is had by all. Any time you have Midgets, Sprints and ISMA on the same race program, is a dream racing weekend in my book.

From what I am hearing, Johnny Benson will be unveiling his own supermodified at this race. He has a new Extreme Chassis built by Paul Colloca from Oswego, N. Y.. Berlin fans should be in for a big treat, Paul builds fast cars. The only pictures I have seen of this car were still in the bare sheet metal stage; I understand Johnny plans on running his Dad's #21 on the car.

I hope the rescheduled MSA/Oswego race at Sandusky on Saturday doesn't hurt the ISMA car count for the Berlin Race too bad. The Berlin fans love supermodified racing!!!

Have a great racing weekend, Dan!!!

i agree with the majority it is a great race and a good track. I think last year mel kenyon actually ran it but don't quote me on that! but it was a great race with a good show of cars but i can't remember what regional guys came besides Travis Young, and Ricky Ehrgott and Zach Schiff went last year i think.

But i will also be at winchester sunday for old timers and USAC should be a good night, but sadly not at Berlin so hopefully someone can arrange someone for updates!
