I've got a lot of hate from saying this before but if they want to add something for the drive to make it safer add a canopy like Top fuel dragsters and if the indy car breaks into 3-4 different pieces have it like the boats where the cockpit with canopy breaks off into 1 piece like the boats do. Also the canopy's probably by the look and shape of them seem very aerodynamic.

need to put fenders on them, that way they don't bang wheels and get upside down.

Continuing to follow this I am....... Halos of the sort were just recently rejected for next season. The F1 brass decided the drivers needed more practice time with it prior to implementing. Vision, of course, was the key point of topic.

Note that this is an image, not a true device affixed to the car. It is to be tested by F1 at the upcoming British Grand Prix. The idea has not been shelved by any means.
