Yes, I ran QM's from 75 to 82 my home track was Capital in Rio Linda, Met my wife there and it is where Bryan took some of his first laps in a race car. Lots of great memories at that little dirt track. We raced at Pomona quite a bit over the years and I think I may of raced at another so cal track in 76 it was a tiny bowl but my memory is a bit foggy. We raced at the Denver grands in 79. About the only thing I remember from that trip was a restaurant we went to that was like a tropical forest with waterfalls, obviously we didn't do very well lol.

I was just looking at an old trophy, the track was called VQMA or Valley QMA and was located in my home town, Northridge. I think the back side of costco is close to where it was located, it wasn't the best neighbor hood. the track in Pomona closed down, but they have a newer track at Orange Show Speedway (San Bernandino next to the 1/4 mile stock car track)

I raced a few times at Baylands, damn u had to run right next to the wall with that flat track, where as Valley had high banks and at the time was the fastest QMA track in the country, and had the world records. Did a little dirt racing at Visalia too.

I remember the 79 grands fondly, got two trophies for fast time, and got to play pool games with Robin McCall, Dee Pachello, and some snot nosed guy named Jeff, heard he got an announcing job or something. Girls always liked him.

I still see a few 1/4 guys at the track still racing, California Flash Bobby still runs lightning sprints and see Donnie Hart up at Ventura raceway. Turkey Night would be a great place to have an old 1/4 midget reunion, Jim Naylor used to race them to, and my 1/4 midget was an exact copy of Jim's TQ, it was yellow, purple and orange, I know it sounds ugly, but anyone that saw Jim's tq, loved it (along with my car)

cheers

Tim, thank you for once again providing actual facts on an issue. I am glad you still do that on here. Please keep making your interesting, factual contributions to IOW.

Under normal circumstances I will go through 3 - 4 complete bodies compared to 1 carbon body. When you factor in the cost of paint and longevity the carbon bodies save my team $$.
