That makes sense. Actually I was thrilled to see Turkey Night was coming back to my old stomping grounds and to be the final round in the Challenge is pretty cool too, especially if someone's still got a shot at getting the 500 ride.

I wonder why the Louie Vermeil Classic hasn't been made a national series race for midgets? I understand the travel involved is obviously a factor but what if they moved it to the end of the year and made it coincide with a trip out to Cali for Turkey Night? Teams were saying they would be more likely to go to Turkey Night if they had more chances to race on the swing. Are the dates that Calistoga has this race at historic or set in stone?

It's a long way to haul for one race.
And the date is sort of set --- Labor Day weekend. But putting two challenge dates in California, and one in Kansas, could encourage some west coast guys to join in for more national races. |
