First off, please be educated about this announcement, and the “why‘s” pertaining to some of the questions one might have. Then, and only then, after educating ones self, reading the attached links - one can form their own educated assessment or opinion. Most importantly, if this announcement pertains to your racing livelihood, no matter the car form thereof, I would highly suggest you read every word of the analysis link in detail. Especially the last few paragraphs quoted below in Item 18 referencing “Liquidity and Capital Resources”, then followed with the 5th paragraph in Item 19, also quoted below. I would encourage everyone to read all of the analysis in it’s entirety, to grasp the bigger picture in-hand, thus being as educated as possible.

how is ump going to work with the sprint cars when they dont have enough people to keep track of whats going on with the fender cars. they are broke. they want your membership fees. they do offer insurance that is suppose to be good but when they are broke how do you know it will be there if you get hurt? are you guys only goiing to run hoosier tires. thats what they mandate with the modifieds and stock cars. in 3 to 5 years UMP will be out of business, unless some major corporation comes in and bails them out again.

That doesn't sound too good. I don't know anything about UMP, but financials are in the tank.

767, thanks for the compliments on Jake-(even with the typos) He would drive anything at Anderson, he loves that place. But he said Salem is his "new" favorite track, at least until he wins somewhere else.

This was announced a week ago at Knoxville:

DIRTcar Racing Adding 410 Sprint Cars In 2009; Announces Contest To Develop Regional, National Point System

CONCORD, N.C. — Aug. 7, 2008 — DIRTcar Racing will add 410 Sprint Cars to its regional and national points lineup in 2009, awarding points in three regions and nationally.

Plus, in a unique contest judged by DIRTcar Racing officials, the fan who can develop the best regional and national points system based on existing points structures at tracks around the country will be rewarded with a trip to the 2008 Vault World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C., to unveil the system.

“At our Sprint Car summit last month, it was clear the time was right for DIRTcar Racing to sanction 410 Sprint Cars around the country,” World Racing Group President Tom Deery said. “Promoters and track operators are unified. By awarding points through our Western, Northeastern and UMP DIRTcar regions, we will strengthen and raise the profile of 410 Sprint Car racing.”

If you’ve always believed you had an idea for a Sprint Car points system, now is the time to unveil it. For contest information and parameters, e-mail contest@dirtcar.com.

Sounds like it will be a wing series to support the WOO to me.

Sounds like a couple bucks on every ticket to support the point series of cars that may or may not be racing at your track that night.
