ok 2 sides to this one.
From managment side- Normally when you bring in an outside series there is a sanctioning fee. With that being said, there is normally a rainout clause that covers the traveling series. Many of your big series, the fee is paid up front and is non-refundable. Rain or Shine. Many smaller series are paid at the track. They will carry a much smaller rainout fee (1/2 or 1/3 of fee). Still money out of the tracks pocket. With tracks struggeling now days, it seems like they do everything they can to get that fee back. What is really wrong is when the series does not try to help its racers. Now on the weekly side of things, we all know people try to get in for free. People hide in trailers, people slip through the cracks. People save wrist bands then tape them on at the tracks. It's not to big of deal until those very people try to get paid on the way out. Now I will say it is much easier when the weekly track makes the wrist band good for the future. It really sucks when you have 80 to 100 racers trying to get out of the pit area during a rain out. Everyone is in a hurry and not many people are patient. |

The way I see it, it's simple. If it rains out before the cars hit the track, give back the pit pass money. If the cars make it on to the track, pay out the tow money. Like I said simple eh?
