I was in Richmond last weekend attendiing a race at Virginia Motor Speedway. Unless I already knew, I'd have no idea that the IRL was coming, much less USAC.
Likewise, the Carolina Ford Focus Midgets were supposed to start their Wednesday nights at the Concord Motorsports quarter-mile with a practice and racing is supposed to begin next Wednesday. Nothing to be found anywhere except the track website and all it says is "times t.b.a.". Again, zero promotion.
Got to agree that traffic on the interstates has decreased (as soon as you get away from the cities). On the way home from Virginia last weekend, I was the only car on the road for a loooonnnggg stretch of I85. No truckers, no cars, just me. And most of the truckers have slowed down to under 65.
Alkymadness, Living in Phoenix I have shared your thoughts often before a USAC or IRL race, no media coverage, no advertising.
Scott Passmore from Channel 3 news is the one exception, Scott is a racer at Manzy, he gives both Manzy and PIR as much coverage as he can.
My neighbors have attended the Copper World Classic for years, now they have no idea USAC is coming to town until I tell them.
To the car owners or their representatives that have posted your teams plans for next weekend "Thank You".
