Even though we would like to see sprint car drivers move into the Indy Car series the fact is that their best chance of moving up anymore is in NASCAR.
Who says NASCAR is "moving up"? Just sayin'...

I guess the devil is in the details. However, I am very much on the fence for this event. I have only been to Eldora once, but I don't remember it being designed to have cars do pit stops. Is everyone ready for mandatory competition cautions? I assuming that they will try to modify the current trucks to run on the dirt which means that the track will have to be packed down hard to keep the dirt off of the windshields. Which means is will be a giant dustbowl. I do not follow the truck series, but I think I remembering hearing that they have the same start and park rides that the Sprint Cup does. If this is true, those teams are not going to spend any money to change over their cars. Finally, if I was a Truck owner looking for a driver, I would go get a late model shoe, not an open wheel shoe.

This could provide some drivers a chance to show NASCAR teams that they deserve a chance to drive in NASCAR.
I really do not see Nascar teams going after spint car drivers if this race were to happen (unless they are WoO drivers). I do however see them going after Dirt Late Model Drivers. These guys are racing on TV every week. Many weeks multiple episodes are shown. These drivers are becoming popular enough to have murchandise trailers following them around. Let face it Scott Bloomquist or Jimmy Owens bring much more to the table money then say Dave Darland or (place any sprint sprint car drivers name). Now the only varience to this would be putting Sammy, Steve, or Donny in the truck. Even these guys are not getting 1/2 the exposure the Dirt Late Model guys are getting.

The only other way I see an open wheel guy getting a chance to drive in this race would be if they are already in a development program.

The top Dirt late model guys, bloomquist, Owens, maybe a few others, do well over a $1 million a year in souvenirs sells a year. And that statistic is from a CNN special on dirt late model racing back in like 2004. So I'd say they do more than that now.

As for who the truck teams would put in the cars, I'd say they would prolly focus on the late model guys, not because of their popularity, but their ability to drive a larger, heavier car on dirt. I'd pay good money to see bloomquist and don oneal in a truck ride at eldora.
The one open wheel guy I would put in a truck would be that Larson kid lol.

Either way if this happens it'll be dominated by the two Dillion boys. They will have the best equipment, have the truck experience, and have a lot of experience in late models at eldora. Just don't see anyone beating them.

I'd pick someone like Brett Hearn, Billy Pauch or Jimmy Horton.

"Standing room only" tickets would be a hot seller I would think. They'd make the NASCAR fans happy anyways!!
