PONTOON BEACH SPRINT RACE POSTPONED; A RESCHEDULE DATE WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN THE NEAR FUTURE! Tonight’s (Friday) USAC AMSOIL National Sprint race at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill. has been postponed due to impending weather as a result of Tropical Storm Isaac. The race will be rescheduled in October. The USAC Mopar National Midgets are slated at Tri-City Thursday through Saturday October 4-6 and Sprint racing will accompany all three nights at the 3/8-mile dirt oval. “The rains have already reached the Tri-City area,” says USAC’s Jason McCord, “and the anticipated heavy rains throughout the day and night are expected to create unraceable conditions. We are pleased that USAC and race organizers Kevin and Tammy Gundaker are able to reschedule this important race in October, watch for all the details in the near future! The AMSOIL USAC National Sprint cars are scheduled to compete tomorrow night (Saturday) at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track in the annual “Jim Hurtubise Classic.”[COLOR="Black"] ---------- Post added at 7:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:33 PM ----------

With everyone else not racing in Indiana, I would assume the MSCS would draw a full field. Quite a few drivers will already be at Tri City running a midget that night.

Maybe they can use that 19-20 Oct dates for I-30 and tri-city makeup dates.

Actually, the date seemed fine to me. With just 1 week between the Dodge City race and the event at Canyon, it made sense to hit DCRP on the way west. You're right, however, about the number of 410 cars in Kansas, winged or not. I'm not the most knowledgable source, but I can only think of one (wing) team that has a 410 engine, but they didn't even show up to run the WoO show at Belleville. Barring the appearance of a few regional 360 field-fillers, I'm sure the car count would have been relatively light at Dodge. Last year's race recorded 21 entries, 9 of which were local or regional cars.
