Yes, he's still in New Orleans. I took many interesting trips with Steve over the years. Never a dull minute.

Steve's wife (Marilyn?) do not even know he owned a race car until after the sprint car was gone, replaced by a Grant King Silver Crown car. I think she first learned of the race car stuff when Steve's car became SC division car owner champ one season.

I had my car at Steve's house in Huntington one time back in the 70's. We had the thing torn apart in the driveway. Well, Steve's dad called and was coming over for some reason. In a matter of 20 minutes we had to get that car on wheels and pushed back in a church parking lot behind some trees before he got there. After the visit it was back to the driveway. Stuff like this was an everyday happening.

And I'll never forget coming back to WV from Knoxville one summer we stopped andf picked a hitchhiker between Indy and Louisville on a Sunday afternoon. Just a young kid headed somewhere. The kid's mom had baked him some cookies to take on his trip. Needless to say by the time the kid got dropped off just outside Louisville his cookies were all gone and he was ready to get on down the road with someone else. I think that was the same day we got a police escort out of Louisville after leaving an adult store parked on a one way street going the wrong way.

That was my first reaction when I saw it. So I'd concur.

any story about steve enslow i will believe. he was a practical joker to say the least. always a smile on his face.

i was 8 yrs old and granny bought me a new bike on the way to lima one sunday. well they were pited in the infield and they got the bike put together and steve started riding the bike all over the infield waving at me in the stands pizzing me off. then if that wasn't enough he had 4-5 other driver's riding it around to. lol... he alway's had roy salt (atomic announcer) page my granny to the mens restroom.

That does appear to be Illiana with the 66 car...The trees in the background gives it away. New Bremen was in the middle of cornfields if I remember correctly.

I've been to Steve & Marilyn's house in New Orleans (actually Algiers, just across the river) It was filled with all sorts of funny, interesting & unusual stuff... were their houses always like that?

A few years ago, when Steve was still alive & kickin', I almost had him convinced to go to Knoxville Nats with me. Marilyn nixed it cause she was afraid it would inspire him to buy another race car.....
