I do agree that there was no way that Windom would have pulled off a clean slide job on him. So, maybe he just should have just taken what he could. However, it appears that Windom is done with his slide right before they make contact. There's some slightly thicker (for lack of a better term) dirt where he is running. Also, Jarrett is off the cushion right before contact. Almost as if he's getting an angle off the final corner. If he's on the cushion, I think they get close, but don't touch. I think both could have done something different, especially Windom, and this wouldn't have happened. They're racers, going for the win every single time they're on the track. That's why we're fans...
WOW! I must've watched the wrong video, because the video I watched was 100% Windom. The leader didn't do a thing wrong....Honestly, how would the leader know that a car behind him is planning to pull an ill-fated slide job? What could he have "done differently"???? What would you have the leader do? Move out of the second place car's way????

I don't think anything was intentional, Chris just wasn't quite close enough to him as they headed into 3. Just a bad deal.

I don't think it was necessarily intentional, either. It was just incredibly poor judgement on Windom's part to try that move from where he was. Jarrett was just a sitting duck in the whole deal. Probably tore up some pretty expensive stuff (eg. wheel, axle etc.) on his car, as well. I just don't see how Shawn can think Jarrett could've done something differently. How can the leader anticipate, or SEE, what the cars behind him are doing or, are planning on doing????

If it were anyone other than Windom, I would say its just racin. But, as a fan, I have lost a lot of respect for Chris Windom in years past, and this year as well. He's a heck of a driver, but I think sometimes...if not all the time...he lets his emotions get the best of him. And how you race others means a lot to me in this sport. Especially when someone does him "dirty" he loses his cool instantly and tries to retaliate with his car. That's a big no no. So, watching this...although it seemed like a racin deal, I know Windom could have cut that corner more and given jarrett more room. Or just settled in behind jarrett, taken the checkered in 2nd and go beat him in the feature. Feel bad for Logan...I'm sure he tore a lot of stuff up. Sometimes you do have to use your head in racing...seems Windom never does. Jmo.

I'm not saying the Jarrett needed to do anything differently at all. He didn't know Windom was going to try anything at all. All that I said was that Jarrett was off of the cushion slightly. That, which isn't his fault, mixed with Windom hauling it in there, probably caused the crash. I simply said that I felt it was a racing deal, or if anything, more of Windom's fault for being a little too aggressive in a heat race. I never said it was Logan's fault or that he could have done anything different, period. Which, by the way, I agree that he's much improved this year. Fun to watch!

Shawn, I'm not beating you up. I just didn't understand your thinking on this event or, I just misinterpreted what you were trying to say. That's all.

That's what separates the veterans from the superfast young guys...the vets are able to race that hard and aggressively without running over people most of the time, because they've had a racecar bust their tails at some point in their career...they respect what those cars can do to their drivers...Clauson unfortunately became a veteran at a very young age when he went cage first into the fence at Wheatland, MO 4 or 5 years ago...tore some of the cage out and messed up Bryan's neck pretty bad...He is still a superfast young driver but you rarely see him put a wheel wrong or use the right side of the car as a big bumper.... One of these days if he keeps treating other cars that way Windom will end up getting his butt busted by a racecar. He will spend some time in the crash house and will respect the cars when he is able to get back in the seat....

Don't read this as I want it to happen to him, or anybody else, because I wish nobody would ever ever get injured racing. Unfortunately it's the nature of the beast and no matter how many times you see somebody else get banged up you really don't learn anything until it's you laying there wondering if you will ever get healed up enough to get back behind the wheel.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Chris fracture a vertebrae in his neck a couple of years ago during Illinois Sprint Week?
