IMHO putting restrictions like this on ARDC teams keeps the sport of midget racing competitive and somewhat affordable, which some have stated themselves. But my question is, and its not directly related to these rules, but is the 34 CI difference between the steel motor and the alum motor enough to make the steel motors competitive?

The ST is the original design head and is the closest to the pinto that the Esslinger is based off of.
The XT head has ports raised 1" and larger valves which allows for better flow and more power over the ST. The RSI head is a mirror design of the XT so that the injection is on the right side of the head instead of low down on the left side where it is more vulnerable to damage. |

Couple of things....I think the first car Buckwalter ran was a Critter Car with Esslinger.
USAC reduced the esslinger from it's original larger size when first built to 155 then up to 161. That was because they were hard pressed to run with the larger Fontana and Gearte at 151. I won't bore anyone with a statistical breakdown....I'll just say that anyone who is interested should look at the car counts from ARDC this year and the USAC National results and I think Genes numbers may be reversed. Maybe ARDC doesn't list all cars that ran the feature. I like the ARDC and I like the guys that run with them. Some great racers out there. Hope to race a little out there this year. I myself have ranted and raved against USAC and I haven't always agreed with decisions.....but they aren't the anti Christ. They want a strong series and while everyone has complained and pointed fingers at them.....they had the strongest year of the clubs I can think of and if what I am hearing is solid information....which I believe it is ....2016 will be a great year for them. One thing that I have to defend USAC on is their insurance and benevolent fund. Never get any credit for those. And I am a car owner.....again. I am because I think this is one of the better times for midget racing in all parts if the country.

Yes, that one is rather dated, I catch one myself once in a while, and don't understand where it came from, or why it's being brought back now! Bob
