I want people to understand first off that I wish nothing but the best for USAC. I would love to see non wing sprint car racing thriving all across the U.S. with USAC paying big money and getting huge car counts. They have the best drivers in the country competing in their series. It may be the case where they are only wanting 32 or less cars to show up so they can run a quicker show. If that is the case then they are going in the right direction. I believe that with these fees and no pay they will be there before long. So mission accomplished. But as a fan what I love about when USAC comes to town is the rilvary. The little local guys vs the superstars. It makes the racing even more exciting. USAC fans cheering for their guys and local fans rooting the little guy on. If things do not change the little guys wont be at USAC events but at places like Danville where they are guaranteed $100.00 just to show up. Yes they are racing for less to win, but how many locals get a top 4 with USAC it happens but not that often. You have to get a top 4 to beat the winning prize money at a local track. At the local track no entry fee and money for every car. So it is easy to see why some racers make the choices they make. USAC has to find a way to make everyone feel like they are wanted. If not promoters are going to take a big hit on there profits when having a USAC show. Like I said earlier every car that stays home costs the promoter anywhere from $200.00 to $1000.00 denpending on how many people go with or follow that car to the races. That really makes a big impact on the promoter. So from a promoter side of things it would be better to force USAC off the entry fees and pay everyone that shows up. How does USAC come up with the lost imcome through sponsorships, promoting, sanctioning fees, trimming some fat, or many other ways but do not come after the people puting on the show for you. It would be better for the promoter to pay the higher sanctioning fee than to lose those cars over 32 cars. Because not many teams come with less than 4 people its not hard to do the math.

I must say that it is amazing how people will bash and give partial facts.
A pit pass at Brownstown is always $35, but usac worked a deal to get members in for a reduced price.
When the locals run at Bloomington, Gas City, ect.. is'nt a pit pass $25 ? Then they run for $1200 to win and like $100 to start. When usac races at these same joints members pay $25 and non-members pay $30. Then they race for a $20,000 purse vs the weekly purse of $6500.
What did a pitpass cost to run the $3000 to win at Bloomington?
Do you have to be a member of mscs to race, how much is that?
How much would a pitpass cost at a local show if the purse was $20,000, buy simple math if its $25 for $6500, would it be $80 for $20,000?
Who gets the pitpass money ( for those of you that do not know THE PROMOTER DOES)?
So we are down to a $30 fee to race with a club that has 325% bigger purse!

I would bet the promoters are hoping that a "boycot" of usac is successful, then they will not have to compete with usac and can run races all year for $6500 ( they do raise them once in a while when usac is close, huh, when the crowd is smaller and there bigger local guys run with usac they can afford to raise the purse).

usac charges a fee for officials, how many they have, and what they pay is not of concern in regards to the price of a pitpass or non member fee.The promoter pays for the officials not the competitor.

Be careful what you wish for and who you follow because your wish may come true. If usac was to close shop then all the best will be in your back yard each week! Then the locals will be running in the b-main.

How many local tracks have an ambulance that can transport. how many have a paramedic? Be careful of your answer?

From a fans stand point I am behind you 100%. I would love to see all the big guns each week at the local tracks for a discount price!!

I think alot of what Kevin is saying is quite true and I understand him completely!
The expense of racing is off the charts, and it hasn't been this bad since Jimmy Carter was in office!
And it may get worse before it gets better?

But on the other hand, I had a good friend that was injured a few years back at a USAC event, the care and concern he recieved was amazing!
I seriously doubt there is ANY other racing sanction that takes better care of their racers than USAC did then.

So sometimes in the big picture, you have to look at that half empty glass and realize, that it is really half full!

Daaaamn!

Must be one of the reasons I never go there, and if I do go there, I sure won't go to the pits!

the problem is you have teams like stewart, kahne, boat, kunz, truckers, and some other independants who can and will pay the fees........it will continue until big time teams like them stop paying the fees....its just like the gas prices....they will continue to go up until they reach a point that nobody can afford....then they will back off of the price a bit...but it will never go down....

An MSCS Indiana sprint week combined with an Illinois MSCS sprint week with POWRi as a co header?

Oh that would make even the dirtywhiteboy happy for a change.:thumb

It is their reponisibility to raise those funds in other ways not through the people putting on the show. Here are my and Craig Doris post from another subject.

If you had three racers standing together on the ramp of the trailer, you couldn't get them to agree on what damn color the sky is!
Unity simply is NOT in their vocabulary.

I just want to correct the lie that ossucks posted.

A pit pass at Brownstown is NOT $35

It is $25 on a regular show.

$10 at the front gate, $15 at the pits.

We have not raised our front gate price for regular shows, it will always be $10.

It was $35 at the USAC show because it was $20 at the front gate and the $15 at the pit gate.

Although i am a midget guy and not involved with sprints i have to say i agree with Kevin and commend him for making a stand. It is a pretty sad state of affairs when a racer at the level of competetion we compete can show up at the track to be part of the show and leave empty handed. especaily after paying an entry fee. I always try to look at things like this from both the sides of the issue. the racer's as well as the side of the promoter. I can see how with the big car counts at alot of the shows that not paying everybody can help keep alot of money in the promoters pocket and may even make the difference between a profit and a loss in some cases. I am a business owner myself, and am all for making a profit, but i do not think it should be done at the expense of the racers who support the show/series.
I was not paid after running a midget race for the first time in my 7 years of racing last season and was absolutely floored by it. I love running with the group, and will most likely continue to do so as long as i am involved in midget racing because they are one of the best organizations around. When i did not recieve a check i figured it was an error and sent an e mail about it. i was told that they only payed the top XX (i don't remeber the exact number, but it seems like it was 32) number of cars in the show. I did not finish in the top 6 or 8 spots of the B main, or what ever it was that night, to get me into to that XX number of cars so i did not get paid. i did respond with a e mail explaining why i thought that was a really bad policy and explained why I hoped for there sake as well as mine they would reconsider it in the future. It just seems short sighted to me to go into a event knowing that if you get the average car turn out your hoping for at an event, that you will send at least 3-4 people away unhappy.
Kevin Briscoe has a tough struggle ahead of him, but without people like him who are willing to take a stand for what they believe in there is not much chance to make things better. :thumb
