Its disgusting really what they have done to our small town and the land surrounding it, not to mention 24/7 heavy, real heavy truck traffic. I dont have a dog in the race, all it has done for me is cause the price of most everything to double in our area and I dont sleep cause of the truck traffic. I have been 100% against it, but as my wife said if you cant beatem joinem. Were working a deal and a new big block modified might be in the works. Maybe you guys were right and dreams do sometimes come true. I'd much rather run a 410, but a big block mod is top dog here.

Rogue 9, what makes no sense to me is why they aren't building a mile dirt track also. Rumors have been flying around for several years about the Moody Mile at the Syracuse Fairgrounds going away when the state has the money to implement the changes they want to make. The press release did state Phase 1, maybe down the road there will be a Phase 2 mile dirt track built.

As for Brewerton Speedway wasn't it close to being an apartment complex a few years ago? It could just be the land has become more valueable to sell off rather than try to operate as a race track anymore. I have no idea at this time what will happen with Brewerton. I do know the contract Harvey signed to stay on at the track when he sold it is coming to an end. The above video clearly shows the folks at Brewerton were aware Glen Donnelly was testing synethetic dirt. One of my friends brothers worked with Harvey at Brewerton and Fulton until this past winter, I will let you know if she has any info to add to the press release.

It could be the new 1/2 mile dirt track will be a special events track not a weekly run operation and Brewerton will continue on with Friday night action as alaways.

i dont think it was synthetic dirt as much as it was the "product" being applied.
back in the day, lindy vicari was mixing stuff in the water trucks at reading and it kept the track tacky with minimal dust.
after reading, the formula was rumored to have gone to don jones of east windsor (nj) speedway.

John Wight bought Brewerton and Fulton, once he heard it was in danger, it is safe. John is loaded, money isn't an issue with him. Billy Decker, Pat Ward and Tim Fuller all drive for him. Brewerton wasn't the one with valuable land, it was Fulton, but the previous owner wanted to get rid of them as a package deal, so in order to get fulton they had to buy brewerton as well which delayed talks. When John Wight heard about that, he bought both of them, and has brought them both back to what they once were (think dave allison ==> Joe Spiker), bringing the world of outlaws sprints back to fulton, and the World of Outlaws Late Models to Brewerton.

Wasn't Harvey just the manager, or was he the owner too?

Yes, I thought they ment a trually artificial service. I still think its good that someone is trying to figure out the dust problem. I was on a pit crew at east windor and flemington. E.W. was light colored clay and had good racing, but compared to Flemington the racing was at a slow pace. I have never seen a blacker or faster track then Flemington. I've looked up around here, havent seen nothing to give me that woooohhhh feeling yet. I have a feeling I'll be woooohhhhing alot when we get to see some Indiana racing next spring.

It was my understanding that John Wight bought both tracks when Brewerton was about to become an apartment complex. An yes both tracks were sold you might say as a package deal.

One lesson I learned with the sale of Manzy loaded track owners are always looking to make more money, doesn't matter if they have one or three cars racing there if the opportunity presnts it self to turn a huge profit Brewerton or Fulton might just meet the same fate Manzy did. From what I have heard that sale of Manzy was done without anyone in the racing community even knowing that the track was for sale until the announcement was made they were closing. At that point attempts to try to save it were to late. It has left me with the belief that no race track in this country is safe. Not in todays economy! That is why I also get excited when you see a project like Central New York Raceway Park coming to life or someone stepping up to safe a short track.

I will agree it was exciting having the WOO Sprints and Late Models back in CNY.

Who do you think owned Brewerton and Fulton before John Wight? I sure could be confused about Harvey's past involvement, haven't been able to confirm what he did there before John Wight's ownership.

My dad knows John Wight, I'm not worried about either track. Not sure who owned it, maybe it was harvey, but maybe not, but they were killing it.

Rogue-9, got confirmation today from a friend who's brother has worked closely with Harvey other the years. Harvey did own both Fulton and Brewerton in the past. I will admit I probably couldn't tell you when the last time I was at Brewerton was, it probably doesn't go back as far as Jimmy Ferlito's days there which was a long time ago. I have been to Fulton since John Wight has owned it and met both he and his wife but I wouldn't say I know them. I am guessing as a business man John Wight must have felt Harvey had something to offer to hire him to manage the tracks under Mr. Wight's ownership.
