Interesting Machiavellian move by the IMS While the open wheelers can't seem to agree on the time of day (CART/IRL/USAC/etc.), the IMS is giving the people what they want: More American racecars with more American drivers

Personally, I'd like to take a blowtorch to all the fenders if I could and make them all open wheel. A blowtorch might be easier and cheaper than forming a rear engine sprint car series so the non-USAC sprint guys can have their 'Road to Indy' back. Rear engine sprint cars would probably be more awesome to see, though. I don't know, I'm torn. If I saw a bunch of rear engine sprints at Gas City, they would probably have to put me in that Simpson straight jacket somebody recommended. I'd probably wanna do a cartwheel off of the bleachers. The only thing I can be assured of is the open wheel community can't agree on anything so the fenders are driving right on by!

As far as IRP tradition goes, they jacked that up for me at the May TNT this year. IRP couldn't get a simple pavement sprint show right this year. Long time lags, no MUSIC and no(or extremely minimal) publicity!!! IRP's ability to put on a sprint show has deteriorated as much as USAC's. IMO Great racing, AWESOME racing, but that's to the credit of the teams and drivers, not USAC or IRP. If I had a car in that show I'd be ultra with how USAC and IRP are treating the rebirth of TNT! I was still telling everybody about TNT until Sunday. Now, I truly have enough USAC memories to last a lifetime

Could happen since NHRA still owns the all the land.

Do you think since there will be a Rolex sports car race Friday at IMS and the Nationwide race Saturday now going to be there this will get rid of the Silver Crown race at ORP? If they are going to follow through with this why not have a midget, sprint, silver crown triple header on Thursday night for Thunder and take as much of NASCAR's money as they can. Just my vote but Im no promoter and dont care to be. Just a huge fan of the open wheel cars.:2:

Greatly disappointed with this move by NASCAR. So with the announcement I find this will be my last Speedfest as Jump Medic on Fire 1 at at Raceway Park. I was a ticket holder for many years at IMS for the Brickyard and it is an awful place to watch a race, at least (IRP, O'Reilly, LORI) offered something worth watching, and stirred up tempers a little, along with some bent sheet metal. Fire and EMS at LORI went through our annunal NASCAR hands on training about two weeks ago and none of us was told this was going to be our last, or the races were going to IMS, we have heard rumors for the last couple of years, but never anything offical. To me this is my last straw with NASCAR I will go to LORI / Speedfest do my job, then never look back or watch NASCAR again. SO Sprint Week is before Speedfest I know where I'd go

Hate to hear about pulling out of Raceway Park. As far as NASCAR goes, haven't seen a race in 5 or 6 years. My reason for hating this is the loss of Dollars to IRP. Seen lot of good shows there, Including watching Steve Butler mow grass with his sprint car on the bottom of the turns.lol Hopefully something will come to lite for IRP/ Maybe a sprint car, midget weekly or bi-weekly double header. Would love to run both there. Thanks for Listening. Tim

Somehow I don't think he'd be pleased at this development.

Sean did a fine documentary on following the corn. Maybe he should do one called Follow the $$$.

Call me old fashioned but to me this is a form of desecration of the Speedway.

What's next, mini-van races on the big oval?
Maybe figure 8 racing.

I really only watched the nationwide race and truck race that weekend as I knew that would be the best racing. The whatever nascar race that was held at IMS was a boring one groove race.

I've always said if Nascar would run figure 8s I'd be a much bigger fan. Then the road through indy would run right thru the crossover at the speedrome.

Either way, I have plenty of parking and camping spots for race fans in May and Summer Indy Fender Show 2012 at IMS! Smore's galore and sprint car stories till you fall asleep

What a shame. I appreciate the tradition of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but as a race fan the best competitive racing was always at Lucas Raceway Park. If had to buy only one ticket, it would be for ORP.
