If you are considering this race, I went last year and had a good time. It is a pretty neat little place. The promoter was a nice guy and the track had a nice shape. Not tons of seating, but you could see well from anywhere. I stood all night and didn't miss anything.

Nice post count Funkster...

Well it looks like I will miss Florida in Feb. I wanted to catch some late model racing again this year before the non wingers came to town. But it would be to many days off. Then I thought, well, maybe Clewiston will schedule a couple races that butt up against Ocala. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOO , what was I thinking. So I'll save my money for another race, another day .

I am kinda in the same boat Pine. I can't make Clewiston, I just do not have the time to leave that early. You would have liked the promoter, hung out for a few in the parking lot with me,coach, areo, and a few others while we were having a few beers. He thought the sprint cars were cool. Plan is to go to Ocala.

Yea I was thinking MAYBE, just MAYBE, that two tracks + USAC, could SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY work out a schedule that would be fan/driver/owner friendly. Again, what the HE!! was I thinking. I should of figured it would be IMPOSSIBLE...OH WELL.....With the money I save by not going to Florida, my friends in Indiana will benefit , because I will grace you guys with my presence a few extra times this summer :2:

If you are going, I was just able to get a reservation at the Motor Inn in Clewiston. This is a 10-15 minute or so drive from the track. I stayed there last year and was pleasantly surprised by the room. Not much on the outside, but a very nice room with good Wifi, refrigerator, microwave, very comfortable bed, etc. Phone # is 863-983-4115.

Even though it rained out the first night last year and there were only 16 sprints, I had a good time. Hope more sprints go down this year. Excellent track food. Where else can you get fried gator tail bits (and no, they don't taste like chicken, they taste like gator). Their track food is provided by several local businesses and all of it looked good.

If you go, a piece of advice based on what I saw last year. Do not throw rocks at the cute, small gators in the drainage ditch which is by the side of the track. While you can see the babies, you can't see their mommies, and mommy is a lot larger and doesn't like for people to bother her little ones. Not only does that anger them, but I was told it is mating season in February. You probably don't want a cranky, horny momma gator after you.

Hope to see lots of IOW members at Hendry County in February.
